Goals
The specific and primary purposes of the APS are to:
(a) Promote stamp collecting and its related areas for people of all ages;
(b) Offer services to its membership and to philately in general, including knowledge and education, which enhance the pleasure and friendliness of stamp collecting;
(c) Initiate and coordinate new programs for the benefit of stamp collecting and of all collectors;
(d) Represent the United States of America in the world body of philately;
(e) Assist its members in acquiring and disposing of philatelic materials; and
(f) Receive and maintain gifts of money and property, and to distribute money and property, for charitable and educational activities related to stamp collecting.
With the exception of subparagraphs (c), (d), and (f) above, the APS goals coincide with those of this Forum.
We have a worldwide membershp with diverse collecting interests and varying levels of expertise. Our aim is to leverage the benefits afforded through APS chapter membership to enhance our respective collecting education and knowledge, and to advance the hobby.
Over time, The Stamp Forum will explore opportunities provided by affiliation with other national and/or international philatelic organizations.

Chapter Membership
The American Philatelic Society, founded September 14, 1886, is the oldest and largest national organization of stamp collectors in the United States.
Initially called "branch societies," Chapters have been an integral part of the APS since its founding; there are now more than 525 local stamp clubs in the U.S. and several other countries are APS Chapters.
Five forum members who are also APS members have applied for membership of The Stamp Forum as an APS Chapter. Subject to its approval by the APS Board of Directors, TSF will become a chapter of the Society.
The chapter membership fee is the same as that for an individual member of the Society; it will be paid annually from donations received from forum members. The application fee has been paid by a member donation.
A chapter may have members who are not members of the Society, but a minimum of five APS members is required to remain a chapter.
Chapter operations and functioning are an internal matter and the APS bears no responsibility or obligation for any operation or action of the chapter.
Membership in both the American Philatelic Society and The Stamp Forum is a privilege extended to those persons and organizations deemed worthy thereof and is not a matter of right.
Membership may be maintained unless a determination has been made that the conduct of a member has been such that, in the best interest of either the Society or TSF, the individual’s membership in the respective entity should be suspended or terminated.

Chapter Representation
Each chapter designates one of its APS members to represent the chapter in its dealings with the Society.
The representative is responsible for:
• reporting all activities of the American Philatelic Society to the chapter,
• generally supervising the recruiting from the chapter of members of the American Philatelic Society, and
• ensuring that annual chapter reports to the Society are promptly made and all other procedural requirements are complied with.
The Stamp Forum’s chapter representative will initially be tomiseksj (Steve Tomisek APS No. 130102).
