I recently acquired a 2d Imperf Swan. I had one already, but this one had a much richer and brighter colour, and I was happy at getting it for a reasonable price. But now I found another one on eBay, with brighter, and stronger, colour again. I desire it, just for the rich colour but I think a few others might want it too. Anyhow, we have a great forum here, where we can post the images, and have them on permanent record for reference. I do love that. Post your Swans here `Paul Attachments:

Phew! I thought you had unearthed a rare 15 bar 9 postmark, sorry but it turns out to be a 15 bar 6, (Albany Western Australia 1859)

Standard 12 bar Duplex "GPO" BC, the other half of the duplex is just showing above it, as the GPO is perpendicular to the barred town numeral.

Thank you. You obviously know your postmarks, Rod. If I ever have a question about a postmark, I know who to ask. That is a lovely yellow colour, BC. I'm away from home, and my collection, at the moment. When I get home this weekend, I'll be checking my one penny stamps for comparison. I won the reddish-vermilion stamp, btw. ~~~` Did anyone see that set of rouletted swans on ebay this week? Nice copies, most with certificates, the bidding was high, as expectable, but then, the seller ended the lots before the time. Testing the market? I'd like to post the images, but they are copyrighted and watermarked. So maybe I better not. Cheers `Paul

15 bar 9's are very scarce. Here's how to tell, take a vertical line from your bars, If the vertical line from the belly of the six, meets the pimple at the top of the 6, then it's a Nine. If the pimple is 1-2mm to the left, then a 6 I accept no credit for this info, the boys whom write the books and study, take the applause.

I don't own any imperforate swans so this late pair will have to do - it has an odd perforation variety, apparently the sheet (or comb) was moved laterally during the operation. Ryan

Ryan mused : "(or comb) was moved laterally during the operation."
Fascinating, I'll scour my library for answers on this one. (Albany is a lovely town, may head there over Christmas for a few days)

OK, first we need to identify the stamp correctly, based on the 1890's typical Duplex Albany, looks like 1908 That means there are two types Type 13 or type 22 Typo DeLaRue or Typo Vic Govt printer. Perforation please and Wmk? Reading the Catalogue, makes my head hurt, but cannot locate any news on shifting pper under the comb apart from an example under 12.5 which is listed as a "Mystery" Acknowledgement : Western Australia The Stamps and Postal History The Western Australia Study Group 1979 ISBN 9596476-0-0
