Today my neighbor, who only collects art-stamps, gave me a special folder with stamps of the painter Albrecht Dürer. Included is this souvenir sheet from Paraguay. The special thing is that the souvenir sheet is made of cedar wood and shows a reproduction of the copper engraving "Maria im Strahlenkranz" from 1508 by Albrecht Dürer. By the way, the cedar wood smells wonderful.   cara |

And another nice souvenir sheet from my neighbour. Again Paraguay and a painting from Albrecht Dürer. I scanned it with the original album-page including a description of the painting and the stamp (unfortunately in German). Because of the imprint "MUESTRA" I thought it is not an "official" version, but the description explains: "The souvenir sheet was produced at the "Staatsdruckerei" Vienna (the best printing house for stamps in the world) using intaglio printing combined with multicolor halftone gravure. The print run was 13,100 copies, 1,100 of them for the Universal Postal Union and 2,000 copies with "MUESTRA"-overprint for presentation purposes."By the way a wonderful painting from Dürer.  cara |

Hello here is a (i think) complete set of the world cup theme. Too bad one stamp is not attached to the rest of them but i think it was not part of the original serie.  followed by a close up of the 7 attached stamps   |

This was a nice view of the stamps. I don't have much of a collection of Paraguay. but they have some very colorful stamps and commemorate many things. Maybe when I find a few bucks laying around I might try to pick up some more. As far as you know is Paraguay a "forgotten" country to stamp collectors? Just wondering if there is much interest in Paraguay stamps.
