What I collect: If I have a catalogue for it, I collect it. And I have many catalogues ....

Are the stamp insurance programs offered by the APS available to non-American residents? I know there are many foreign members of the APS but I don't know if this is anything that can be of advantage to them. I had a look on the APS website at their insurance link but it didn't offer any specific info regarding this.

Hi Ryan
Hugh Wood is world-wide so I would think they cover ALL APS members. In general all APS benefits and services are available to all members regardless of location. However, fees may vary.
You could always call the APS toll free number: 1-888-APS-6494 and ask. Once you have an answer, post it on the APS board as I am sure others may have the same question. Jerry B
Edited: Corrected the APS Insurance carrier name.

Thanks very much, good info to know. I'm quite a long ways away from even figuring out what I might use as a value for this mountain of junk, but there are some high-valued Canadian stamps in there and I suppose I should do something about insuring them some day soon. Ryan

Not sure how it works now but, years ago I had to get certified appraisal. It wasn't cheap either and in my eyes a lot of material was disregarded. If my memory is right was percentage of catalog to have it appraised. Then you must update like bi- yearly to keep coverage up to date. Then there is the question of full value or replacement coverage.Almost have to be PHD to figure it all out.

I've read elsewhere that an inventory is not required and appraisal is only required for items valued over $5000 - I'm sure it was on another forum, don't recall where but I'll dig around and see if I can find it again. Ryan edit: OK, here we go, a thread on Stamporama: stamporama.com/discboard/disc_main.php?action=20&id=5997A couple of pertinent quotes: ... Ryan

Don't believe that this would be in my budget either while $25,000 coverage may sound good to some that's a long way from where I would need to be so the $69 becomes multiples of that.Don't believe there's too many $5000 plus in there but still hundreds of $100'S.
