Just to bring this back in focus.I'm still working on this mission to re-assemble the centers of these sheets. The most difficult are the corner stamps as seen below. And no wonder there is only one of each out of those sheets printed in one out of four formats.Talk about rare!If anyone finds a corner we can talk business,PLEASE keep me in mind.I have at present re-constructed two values and better than halfway through a couple others. The real elusive ones appear to be the war tax issues.

Still at this task.I just today realized it's been at least fifteen years since I first started this little side collection,I normally don't post anything not at the 100% mark but in this case I will show how hard those corner stamps can be. this is what I strive for.

Sorry to be so late in responding to this post from many months ago, Frog. Although I looked at it briefly at that time, today I actually reviewed the entire thread from start to finish, and gained a much better appreciation for what you are trying to do. From this point onward, I promise to keep my eyes open for straight-edged Admirals, and I will, indeed, let you know if I find any. Sadly, I have not discovered a single one in all of my Dad's holdings, either straight-edged or otherwise. But I am now on the look-out....

So while I hunt endlessly for those corner admirals,I also like to accumulate other straight edge stamps.Years ago I would have scoffed at these but today I realize how special they really are.The vast majority of stamps issued are from the field but these babies occupy the edges of the sheets.Maybe to the purist who demand perfect perforations on all sides these are the junk, but if so I wish they would send me all their junk.

Personally, I have always considered straight-edge (in every combination) stamps to be "different" from the 4-sided perforations ones. So I have kept the ones that I could find along the way, and here is what I found lying around in my 1851-1949 Canada stockbook. I used to think these were booklet issues, but of course in some cases, there was no booklet with those stamps, and now I know their provenance! With TSF we learn new things all the time...

Frog ( firstfrog2013), thanks for starting this thread in the first place, and for giving us your views on things. For me, it is always educational! Xavier ( hrdoktorx), I am glad that you are finding TSF to be educational, too. It’s one of my favorite things about the Forum. I have certainly been able to broaden my philatelic horizons quite a bit these past couple of years!
