I have been trying to assemble used admirals with straight edges. These would be from format which was cut with scissors into panes of 100.I know most would rather have perfed all sides but I'm on this mission. The really tough ones to find are two cut edges in my eyes premium material.Let me know what you got there's a bounty on these guys.

I will look through what I have. I honestly preferred the perf'ed all around initially, but then I took an interest in the booklet stamps which led into all the admiral straight edges. After I realized they are often higher cat value it pointed to there being less straight edgers out there. Still I'll dig through the stock books and see if I have any I can part with.

It all started innocently after I found several straight edge stamps that were never issued in booklet format. Now I'm trying to assemble the maltese cross design with those pesky two sided stamps in the middle.Sounded easier than it is.

Thanks Mitch great stamp and first one of that value.Never believed it would be this hard to find straight edge stamps.Guess I'm getting taste of what those that look for certain cancellations go through. It will continue to be on going project and another sub=collection. Many thanks for your support.

I assumed the $1 value was the most difficult to find since I had not seen another in the many SE's that I had. Glad you did not have it

I'm putting small queens aside for awhile(again)and digging out the hundreds of admirals I've been hoarding.I did some work on these few years ago but for some unknown reason I've bought more.I enjoy looking for re entrys and various fly specking of these. With a long run and numerous printings makes for cheap entertainment, plus you never know.I'll post anything of interest I find.

Today is mommy day so I only did 104 today. Here's what I found. The two on left show ink smears in right margin.not really hairlines but nice little find.the one on right has ink spots between frame below left one, also some other spots along left and top outer frame.I'm sure these are only of study value but will fill out 104 page and add interest.

My 105's were bit of disappointment just couple son's and precancels.Nothing to write home about. The 106's on the other hand have yielded some interesting things. I'll present them one at a time. This one I'm going to name strand of hair as I don't have a reference book not sure if it's been seen before. It truly may be the first anyone has looked at it.ONLY HERE TSF.

I would classified this as major re-entry notice the N and A in canada as well as almost the total absence of engraved lines below king.

The last scan and the bottom stamp of the previous scan look like classic cases of over-inking. I know very little about Canadian stamps but have seen this with some early GB and Egypt which I did collect with a passion a few moons ago. Nice specimens ! Londonbus1.....a tired specimen, off to bed !

I pride myself on figuring stuff out. Here is the re-drawn spandrel with the explanation. If you look at top stamp the horizontal lines in upper right triangle where the crown is end at the right rather haphazardly. The stamp underneath shows a vertical line added to lines them up.the re-drawn(bottom one) catalogs for $100 the top one $1.50.That is why it's important to know the material you collect.both images are mine.

My secret is out I'm a bit of a fly specker. I made it through the rest of the regular issues of this set.Still have the coils and war tax as well as my straight edge stuff,The good news for you guys is an additional couple hundred admirals are now in that big box under my stamp table.I believe I'll take the bag lining the box to the P.O. just to weigh it up gotta be four or five pounds there now at LEAST,Maybe a xmas auction?? I used to set aside stamps that catalog over $1 but it got overwelming so everything ended up in the box.

Celebration time it has taken me five years to complete my first maltese cross of these straight edge stamps. My goal is to have one for every value printed with this format. The most difficult ones to find are the inside corners with two straight edges.
