Love this page BC. Is a blank page, (Printable) able to be purchased? I keep multiple pages of these stamps, and they trump Mr. Steiner's.
Whilst n the subject, I have a set of Cinderellas, American Presidents, Are you able to construct a page of just blank oblongs to suit?

Thanks Rod and JKJblue!
Rod, I made my Hradcany pages with MS Publisher. I have a template for the border and add the stamp borders as required. Publisher is a simple program to use.
I can make any page you want, no charge, it just takes minutes.
I will post the rest of my Hradcany pages later.

Czechoslovakia Plating the first Issue. Unfortunately, I do not have the October 1954 Issue of "The American Philatelist" if anyone has it, or any Googlemeisters can locate Mr. Veleks study, on *.pdf (or magazine) It would be appreciated.

Steve : The Czechoslovak Specialist reprinted Velek's AP article in 1956. The images aren't too clear but the descriptions are legible. I have said it before, you are a genius Steve That is absolutely wonderful, I can continue my Czech studies (Airmail info as well) A packet of Australia and Antarctic will be on its way, as a big thankyou.

One thing I like doing is finding stamps cancelled with town names that are no longer in use due to changes in languages. Greenlandic stamps are examples - older stamps will use Danish names whereas newer ones use Greenlandic names. Czech stamps are also rich sources, the old German exonyms are no longer in use and have been replaced by Czech equivalents. Here's a list on Wikipedia that helps to translate the old German names that were in use through much of Czechoslovakia. Ryan

Yes, thanks Ryan. I can see that the cancel on the block is Warnsdorf, which is now called Varnsdorf. In WWII during german Occupation it was part of Sudetenland. It is now in the Czech Republic.

On October 28, 1918, when Czechoslovakia became independent, there were no experienced artists, printing houses or printers able to produce postage stamps and as a consequence of the end of the war – a great shortage of all kinds of printing material of the appropriate quality. As a result, the first Czechoslovakian stamp – with a drawing of Hradcany – was printed by typography and initially released imperforate. Their production was a result of constant experimentation with three productions methods, six sequential designs, and variations in the quality and type of paper, colors, gums, and perforations. The artist, Alphonse Mucha was born on July 24, 1860. He worked in the painting workshop of the Vienna State Opera, and from there to Munich and later on to Paris. There he worked as a drawing teacher in the Collaro Academy, and later on founded his own school. In 1903, he left for The United States of America, where he taught at art academies in New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia. Alphonse Mucha was a long-time philatelist. In addition to the design for the Hradcany stamp, Mucha designed the newspaper, postage due, and express stamps for the years 1918–1920, and he also designed the Husite Priest with Chalice released in 1920. The Hradcany series offers the collector more than just basic stamps. Because of the inexperience of the printers, we find heavy or lightly embossed printings, slipped or doubled prints, prints on the gummed side, press offsets, fogs, blotches or foreign particles, blurred, pale, smudges, ink-blobs and dirty prints, partials, displacements and folded paper prints, uneven and missing gum, double and staggered perforations, missing or else extra perforations, blind or misshapen holes, not to mention, a host of plate flaws. The series is generally easy to collect as CV's are affordable and most catalogs list no forgeries. WRONG, the majority of stamps issued from 1918-1940 have forgeries.

Never knew he was also a philatelist, and didn't know these iconic stamps were also his works. Thank you @falshung

A half sheet of the 1h brown, third design, 1919. Plenty of scope for fly-specking here.
