mikeclevenger Love those postmarks - if you have a few "dups"......send some to Canada I am not fussy René Well, as far as I am concerned they are all dupes. I don't collect cancellations. LOL. I sell a lot on Ebay, so a few of the lots I bought this time, are just going to be broken up and sold on Ebay. I haven't sold stamps on Ebay in years, but I am getting tired of selling heavy items, since the USPS shipping price has gone up again. I figure stamps will only cost me 55 cents to $4 depending. I'll have to scan the entire album so I know what is there. I'll let you know when I am done. Mike.

Love that Davo album, but just too expensive for me. They are not cheap, but if you find one like the one I got, I paid way less than just the stamps are worth on Ebay. i could easily sell all the first few pages of the stamps and pay for the album. I always look for the real nice hingeless albums that are fairly full of the good stamps, that way, I can sell the stamps and get my money back, making the album free! This isn't the best album, I have a really nice Lighthouse Germany album coming. I am using one for mint and one for used stamps. I have been using a Scott album that someone put all the black hingeless mounts in, so I am upgrading and will be able to sell that album also. LOL. Of course, with everything I just bought, I could make that album almost complete. LOL.

mikeclevenger - Wow, it seems you will have a busy 2 months ahead! Great stuff indeed, in particular the nice postmarks - congratulations!! If you do not collect postmarks yourself, I would be more than happy to help you store the less common postmarks (from smaller 'unheard off' places) in my own postmark collection Good luck in your effort with these - and more importantly - enjoy Ya know what a guy I work with, that collects stamps, told me the other day while I was telling him about my new purchases? He said that he had never seen that kind of joy in my face, like when I was telling him about my new album and German stamps. I thought about it and it has been a long time since I really got excited about working on my stamps. Don't ge tme wrong, I have been working on my Ohio Tax collection for a few year snow, but I had gotten away from my actual postage stamps. My US collection and my US Revenue collection is pretty much full, of what I can afford, so I ran out of things to look for. That is why I started Germany. So, I guess I will truly enjoy this endeavor! and, I do not collect cancellations, so they are all leaving me.

Good call, about time to start something new then! And Germany is such an interesting collecting area, should do to maintain that smile on your face Postmarks on older German stamps are particularly interesting due to the possibility to find postmarks from places not longer within current German borders - but in nowadays Polen, Lithuania etc. I find such usage very fascinating, to see how postal history is reflecting political history

Well, I bought about 6 auctions of stock books full of 1946 - now Germany stamps.Thought I would go ahead and start planning ahead for when I finish the Old Germany books. They went cheap on Ebay, so I bought them, what the heck, Right?
There was one in particular that someone took the time to make spaces for all the different cities, I think. Even if it isn't all the German cities, it will get me started on my cancellations. This isn't all the pages, just a few.
What I thought was funny about this book, is that he used German stamps, to write the names of the cities on. He must have had too many of those stamps.
There are also pages for Plebiscite & Danzig. I guess I will see how many different ones I have now.

I'm back going through the firstfrog2013 Mystery Box. And a very pleasant surprise for me today, a stamp that I was missing to complete a set and a page in my Weimar Republic period album: The missing stamp was the blue 2000 Mark. One of those pesky low CV stamps that you can't buy by itself and so you'd be forced to buy the whole set just to get the one you need. So a good stamping day just for that!

Does anyone have, or know where to get, a complete list of all post offices in Germany from the 1800's and also the 1940's? I really just want to be able to know how many postmarks there are, and what they are. I have several book now, but none list all the postmarks that were used in Germany during those time periods. I have so many postmarks, but I want to see if I can get them all now. Someone just had to get me interested in cancellations, just another quest that intertwines with my other quests. LOL.

Since I am doing inventory of my Germany stamps and I find myself "poor" (but do have 39-40-52-46a-51 and in "dups") in the 1-50 Scott #s but I do have lots of "dups" covering Sc 39 to 825 (in a book bought by my late dad in the 60s), numbered and re-checked by me, I would entertain some possible exchanges of these classics...... btw I do not collect GDR and all are gone to Bombay nikhilRené PM me please as I do not want this in thread !!

Germany, Sc 001-079 Arranged on Hagner Stock SheetWell, I have been saying for months that I have been working on Germany, so I am now providing some evidence to support those assertions. As I have not yet arranged these to mirror any album pages, these are just arranged according to the Scott Catalogue numbers, generally without leaving spaces for the gaps, but knowing that I can rearrange these when new acquisitions arrive! What I have here clearly pales in comparison to what I have already seen posted by others such as mikeclevenger and brightonpete . I also know that hrdoktorx and feebletodix have much stronger, excellent Germany collections. In terms of rarity or catalogue value, the two highlight items on this page are Sc 8, the first stamp on the sheet, and Sc 28, the last stamp in the first row. Unfortunately, neither one of these higher CV items is in very good condition. The Sc 28 is especially poor as it is way off-center and has trimmed perfs at right side and top left. For now, it is a placeholder until I can find a better copy. Row 1: Sc 8, 16-17, 19, 28 Row 2: Sc 29-32 Row 3: Sc 37-42 Row 4: Sc 45-51 (including 46a, yellow brown color variety) Row 5: Sc 53-56 (Germania, inscribed REICHSPOST) Row 6: Sc 59-60 (Germania, inscribed REICHSPOST) Row 7: Sc 65C-69 (Germania, inscribed DEUTSCHES REICH, unwatermarked) Row 8: Sc 70-72 (Germania, inscribed DEUTSCHES REICH, unwatermarked) and 75

Nice page Chris! And a few adorable SOTN postmarks! I'm only looking on my smartphone, so unable to see the postmarks clearly, will open on my PC tomorrow and have a closer look. You've been working on Germany for months, so I know you have more pages to show us.... Thanks for sharing, nice to see how you're doing it. Simplistic yet well organized, looks great!!!

That’s a great display, Chris! My early German kreuzer values have holes for the most part, and I really need to learn how to distinguish between all the Germanias. At least one series is very easy to ID! Some of the postmarks are great too. That display looks nice too. Perhaps an interleaved with the stamp data would be ideal. I have a few sheets, maybe I’ll give that a go too.

Germany, Sc 080-102 Arranged on Hagner Stock SheetThanks to Jon ( blaamand ) and Peter ( brightonpete ) for your kind comments, and to the others who have given me likes ( hrdoktorx and tobben63 ). I imagine that you both have much better Germany collections than I do, but I appreciate your gracious support. Especially in the cases of Peter and Xavier, as both of you have traded me stamps that are now part of the collection. No special highlights on this page, I don't think. This is where you can begin to see that for Germany, I have decided to collect both used and unused copies of certain issues. I like the Germania definitives very much, and there are a few examples here. See below the image for identification of the stamps. Row 1: Sc 81-84 used (Germania, inscribed DEUTSCHES REICH, watermarked lozenges) Row 2: Sc 85-91 used (Germania, inscribed DEUTSCHES REICH, watermarked lozenges) Row 3: Sc 92-93 used Row 4: Sc 81-83, 85 unused (Germania, inscribed DEUTSCHES REICH, watermarked lozenges) and 93 unused Row 5: Sc 96-101 used except 96 (Germania with white background, inscribed DEUTSCHES REICH, watermarked lozenges) Row 6: Sc 97 unused (Germania with white background, inscribed DEUTSCHES REICH, watermarked lozenges) Row 7: Sc 84a-84b? (Germania, inscribed DEUTSCHES REICH, watermarked lozenges) - This is a temporary location while I decide how to display things. I may have three color varieties of Sc 84, but I am unsure which is which or if the two in Row 7 are the same or different. If any other member can provide a clue, I will arrange them 84 blue violet, 84a light blue, and 84b ultramarine. The example in Row 1 on this sheet looks like blue violet to me.

Here is what the extras look like up to 38. Some of these may not be available due to my need of the cancellation. I haven't checked the cancellations yet for my book. The Scott numbers are listed down the middle of the page.

Boy oh boy. You could fill a bunch of holes in my album too, Mike. But at what cost? Some very pricey stamps from back then! It would be great to have those, but do I want to spend the much? If they are in a lot of statemps I buy, great! But I can't see buying most of these. Same with classic stamps from most countries!
