Thanks Steve, Christer Brunstrom is one of my favourite Philatelic Journalists, amazing knowledge this fellow has. One needs to read his treatment of Thule....... Smashing.

This is the complete 1953 Queen Elizabeth coronation set. They took earlier issues for the overprint. FDCs can also be found. Sells for about $5.

Would you happen to know the Scott #'s? I cannot find these in my 2017 catalogue ( may need to look for a more recent catalogue, if one exists) not really interested in selling- I may add the channel Islands to my focused interests!

They will not be listed in the Scott Standard Worldwide catalog, as they are modern private post stamps.
You have the original overprint set, so that makes them #86-92 priced at $7 for mint in my 2008 Labbe.
The packaging does not appear to be the LPS presentation pack, but rather a booklet produced by the Local Post dealer Rowcroft of New York (he also issued a catalog of Local Post stamps in the 1960s).
I haven't checked your stamps for listed flaw varieties.
The overprints were made on stamps from two sets issued from 1929 & 1939.
These overprints exist in both black and red for each stamp. You have the correct combination of colors for the original overprint set. The overprint colors that you don't have, were issued later.
So, a simple overprint set, but with plenty of varieties.
As far as I know, Lundy Postal Service still issues stamps. The latest stamp I am aware of was issued in 2017. Don't know about 2018.

Your 6 puffin stamp might be the "curved line through top frame" variety. Londonbus1 would likely know.

I don't believe that the line on the 6 Puffin stamp is a variety but I have never seen an example so cannot say with any degree of certainty. I also have the Labbe catalogue mentioned by khj and there is also an excellent catalogue by UK expert Jon Aitchison. He sends me his Lundy Lists periodically with some good offers and scarce items. The definitives overprinted for the Coronation were issued in 1929 (½ & 1 Puffin), 1930 (6,9 & 12 Puffin) and 1939 for the 2 air mails. If you want to see a basic list : www.acsc-history.info/lundy.aspxI have some Lundy stamps but don't really go after them seriously any more. I sold the bulk of my better stamps (Red Cross, Airplane overprints etc) to Mac1775, our TSF member who sadly passed away 4 years ago. He was very enthusiastic about the Stamps of Lundy and even had pictures of them in his workplace !! A great Local to collect. Londonbus1

I received this today as you can see, it's on what would normally be the back of the envelope.... as this is on the other side- I've seen a few other FDC's like this - is it common?

a few things I received today a brief history of Lundy a cover- notice the request for the postman to cancel a stamp... and notice the last name. Per the buy this was a letter sent to the sonof martin Harman! and just for fun, some other puffins, a 'blue' color variety, a block of 4 coronation overprint, and a imperf proof I'm getting close to enough Lundy's to start thinking about printing some pages!

Very interesting, Stan stainlessb - Lundy !!! Note that Canada, during its ties to The King and the Queen of England, did issue its stamps, even as a Dominion but I do not have the books available to give you references.........just a thought - if I am wrong I apologize !! Cheers René

Are there any Lundy Island collectors here? I've been searching for a value guide of some kind. I don't collect them but I have a few and I'd like to know their worth. Are there any Scott or SG type catalogues for Lundy that establish value? I found a superb site on Google that comprehensively lists the Lundy Island stamps but it's not a value guide. Is anyone familiar with this catalogue or perhaps own it? Is the author Jon Aitchison's numbering system the one that Lundy collectors use for reference? I recommend any interested collectors to visit the link: www.acsc-history.info/lundy.aspx If you aren't already familiar with the site, it's really well done. These are some of the stamps I've accumulated: Rob

i have an "assortment" of stamps from Lundy, mainly earlier and i will periodically pick up something i see for sale to add to it.
I have Aitchison's book 2nd edition 1996 so the values listed are not "timely". There is no definitive answer that I can find regarding the numbering, but mentions in the opening pages (just after the Preface) which credits the early works of J. D. Stannard who first catalogued the stamps of Lundy.
"The numbering system in this edition has remained basically unaltered except that a few numbers and several a,b,c numbers have been changed to fit a more logical sequence."
Colors are baed on Stanley Gibson colour chart.

Should these stamps still be considered "local postage stamps" as Royal Mail now accepts them? From the Lundy Island website: Bold my emphasis. Private postage stamps, sure; local postage stamps, debatable. Does anyone know if they can be used on international mail? That statement is a little misleading. Wikipedia states " The face value of the Lundy Island stamps covers the cost of postage of letters and postcards from the island to the Bideford Post Office on the mainland for onward delivery to their final destination anywhere in the world. The Lundy Post Office gets a bulk rate discount for mailing letters and postcards from Bideford." You will see from the example below from 2010, that this actually entails The Landmark Trust, applying a licenced meter mark for the British postage element. This can be international if the correct Lundy stamp is applied. So,in this example, for 35 puffins (35pence), 10 pence pays for the local carriage to Bideford and the 25 pence meter mark pays the British postage.

This post needs a bump! Here's a couple of single misperfed Puffins- not as spectacular as Londonbus1 but I thought they were interesting (and didn't seem to generate much interest on E-Bay)!

I saw the Londy thread recently reactivated and remembered this little lot of Lundy that was included in my Texas Cinderellas lot. I was scanning for eBay and thought I would drop them in here on the way.

Stan, in the Lundy Catalogue: Stamps and Postal History of Lundy Island by John Aitchison, these particular definitives from 1982 are dealt with in a section at the end of the main listing: "Proofs and Colour Trials In recent years a number of proofs and colour trials, imperforate and perforated, of this issue have appeared on the collectors market. They exist in both issued colours and reversed colours but are of dubious provenance and have seen dramatically reducing market values." Including "Drastically shifted perfs on normal stamps", They are priced at £1 each in my 2009 5th edition.

Postcard of Lundy North Lighthouse with a 2015 stamp from the Landmark Trust 50 Years Miniature Sheet (of 9). An unusual postmark complimented by the usual oval handstamp from the island, this one showing the Lundy Old Light, the Island's original Lighthouse but no longer in use. As a Grade II listed building, it is now maintained as a visitor centre. The Island's North and South Lighthouses were designed by Sir Thomas Matthews and built in 1897. I sent the card to myself from the (temporary) Lundy Island Post Office at the 2016 Cinderella Congress in London.
