Rod - that is an intriguing Cinderella sheet. Seems a little odd that on both sides of sheet, it states "These stamps must not be affixed outside of envelopes".

I have recently acquired a 10-year run of simple but beautiful labels commemorating the Annual RDS Spring Show and Industries Fair. All are of similar design but the central figure, Hibernia or Minerva[as she was originally called] are in different colours. The show was held in May each year until the late 1980's. The figure of Hibernia, from the Brittania family, has a motto at her feet in Latin which reads 'Our work bears fruit'. RDS- Royal Dublin Society The Dublin Society was formed in 1731 and became the Royal Dublin Society in 1820 when King George IV became Patron. It's premises were the impressive Leinster House and above the entrance was the Statue of Minerva [Hibernia] which now stands in their present location in Ballsbridge [from 1923]. I believe I've shown these elsewhere, but just came upon this post, and Rods Irish Sweepstakes seals above just MADE me post them again. Blame him. This is the back of them.

A propaganda label from 1971 with a strong story to tell ! It shows a scene from the 1916 Easter Rising with a Republican 'soldier' holding aloft the 'Tricolour' while the Union Flag lays forlornly on the ground. All this against a backdrop of the Dublin General Post Office in flames. The Post Office was the headquarters of the Republican leaders and was largely destroyed during the Uprising. It was re-built in the late 1920's.

I may be posting in the wrong slot - if so profuse apologies - these must be Cinderellas, and in which case not something I'd collect, but apparently of massive interest to a lot of folk. I know there was a EUROPA official issue from the U.K. Post Office way back in the '60s - the good old days of Lsd, when there were commems. for everything under the sun, but these Principality of Thomond labels are completely unrelated, despite the word EUROPA. Judging by this very interesting link, these labels hail from Eire - and it seems similar label have been issued over a long period of time, and they're very unofficial - apparently they may have a connection with County Clare - wonderful area on the west coast of Ireland which I have visited a long time back. I've no idea of value, or if collected with enthusiasm, but certainly they're very colourful. If anyone would care to add information, it's always good to have the full picture - especially since I know almost nothing, so my sincere thanks to the Official Eire Philatelic Association for what little information I have . Sorry, seems I made a mess of adding the link - have deleted my effort and will try to find the correct link.
