Several years ago, I was an avid collector of the stamps of French Indochina, including Laos, Cambodia,Vietnam, Cochin China and Annam & Tonkin. I was a member of the Society of Indochina Philatelists (SICP) for a couple of years and was the editor of their journal for a while. During my "Indochina" phase, I started writing a catalog of revenue stamps (I think the SICP has it now avalable on CD). I even created a set of album pages for the revenue issues of French Indochina and Vietnam, including consular and local stamps (I think some of those sets are still being sold on eBay by Michael Rogers, Inc). Then, since I was in the Album page creation mode, I created some of the specialty pages from Bill Steiner... like the pages for the stamps of the North Vietnam-National Liberation Front, the Laos - Pathet Lao. The other book I was working on in 2003 was a catalog of French Indochina cinderella material. It is about 35-40 pages of listings collected from across the membership of the SICP at the time. Lots of interesting stuff that I would be glad to share with anyone who may have a collecting interest in that area. Cheers, Terry.

Hi Terry, I have the 1997 edition of this catalog, didn't know there was an updated version. Are copies of it still available?

I'd like to learn more about Cinderella stamps from French Indochina. I recently obtained attractive "sets" of labels/cinderellas from Annam, Tonkin, and Cochinchine. They are of scenery, buildings, temples, etc. in varying shades of brown. There are 9 of them from Annam and Tonkin, but I only have 6 from Cochinchine, so feel like I'm missing 3 of those. I'd love to know more about these. I'd like to attach a photo or scan of them, but don't know how to do that with this type of post. Any info you can provide will be most appreciated. Thanks, Fred

Thanks, Fred Hello Fred, welcome to the forum. You have an interest in a very specialised discipline. Look forward to seeing your collection. The method for uploading scans is a little tricky at first, persevere though, and we can see your items up close and personal. Try here, if you have any probs, lets us know We try and encourage all members to commit to keeping their PB (Photobucket) account, for all time. If you "move" or adjust the account, all your images will be lost here. Good luck thestampforum.boards.net/post/24341/thread

My member photo here is one of the cinderellas I was mentioning. I lived in a Meo village, in the mid 1980's with a Canadian couple, trekking through the Hill tribes, in Northern Thailand. It was the most fascinating experience. Never forgotten. The female dress of the Meo, is the most amazing costume I have seen. The men were still hunting with muskets.

Those are very nice Poster Stamps, most likely late 1920's-1930's. There are also most likely a lot more to find from the set. This was the era of Poster Stamps worldwide and many sets were long. Helio-Vaugirard were prolific printers of Stamps, Poster Stamps, Proofs and more by the Photogravure method. Most of their work was for French Colonies the first being French Morocco issues of 1917 as far as I can see.
I suggest a quick look on Delcampe to see if there are similar items as on any given day there are many French Cinderellas listed, a treasure trove of French Cinderellas.
