I was the very lucky recipient today, of a package of goodies from our friend Jeff (ILS). As if the guy didn't have enough to occupy his time, he's out gathering me pressies! This one, which he's already shown elsewhere, is quite lovely and bears showing again. Perfect 1898 Bickerdike machine cancel Type F8 over top an inverted #78. The flag cancel is from Toronto on September 6 at 11 (we assume a.m.) It is back cancelled in London Canada on September 6 PM. The mystery to me is the blind cancel with the flag on the front. It is dated September 7 in the AM with a #8. It must have been applied in London, but here's no location mark. Anyone have an explanation for this cancel? Love to hear it. And many many thanks to Jeff for these treasures!

That's a great cover! Nice clear and complete strike of the flag cancel. The blind CDS is pretty cool too, must be from London as I don't think there would need to be any stops between Toronto and London.
