Wow great stamp Nitro! I have never seen that cancel before either, but it's not typical of the post office cancels of the time. Your inclination that it might be a revenue cancel could be correct.

What I collect: If I have a catalogue for it, I collect it. And I have many catalogues ....

Picked up this little gem with suspicion of re entry but I am 99% sure now shes in hand. Sent pics to Ralph at Re-entries.com for verification but she matches up nicely with images from his site. Your copy has strong doubling at the top of the "E" in "POSTAGE", and I don't see that on any of the images shown on the re-entries site. I wonder, you might have something real good there. Ryan

Does anyone have any info possibly from Duckworth or other resources regarding perf 12.25 on all sides? I have another that is 12x 12.25 but this one being 12.25 on all sides is interesting. Ryan-- I think the degree of doubling may be due to paper as mentioned on re entries site. I have other copies that although are not re entries have a not so clean impression . I guess it could be plate wear but could also be how the paper absorbs the ink . I'm waiting for a reply from ralph and will post results.

Update- Received email from Ralph Trimble on this one and surprisingly it is not a re entry but a slip print. The re entry is said to only be on the reddish purple copies and the guide dots are located in the upper left corner rather than the lower right. Back to hunting!
