I am attaching a page of Argentine Departmental stamps overprinted for the use of the Department of Justice and Instruction (Preliminary Investigation). The stamps are overprinted M.J.I. (Ministerio de Justicia e Instrucción). I am still missing some 20 of the issues and would be glad to hear from other collectors of these stamps. Incidentally, how would Management consider creating a sub for Argentina? I have a feeling it's a rather interesting country in SA for collecting and discussing. Just a passing thought. Argentina is one of my favorites. Today, I just completed the second page of regular issues (shown below) by winning a lot which consisted of the identical complete Scott page. Leaves me with duplicates of all the rest which I can sell to get more than my money back on the deal. The Departmental officials are one of those long issues that collectors spend many years trying to complete but hardly ever succeed. If you follow this link you can see that I have a long way to go with these and that your page of the M.J.I. (Ministry of Justice and Instruction) is much further along than mine (2nd page below). A couple weeks ago I won a lot that had something I had never seen, a departmental with an inverted overprint (shown below), just happens to be an M.J.I. Scott does not list any inverts for these and I'm curious what kind of value it has. I also like the regular Officials from Argentina of which the first page is also shown below. Antonius-Ra.com

As far as Argentina is concerned, I gave my collection some time ago to a friend. It was in a 1.5 inch three-ring binder so now all I have is my collection of Departmentals. Incidentally, keep a close eye on the dots between the letters of the ovpt. particularly in the departments of War (M.G.) and Finance (M.H.) as some of the dots have rounded corners and appear as round as the period (full-stop) in the Times New Roman font. I have never seen any but a friend in Córdoba tells me that he saw some at an auction in BsAs a few years ago. Well, single-source info, so don't take it to the bank.

This thread has been inactive for 4 years. Working on my Departmentals (Official Dept Stamps) today, I am trying to figure the definitions of Type I and Type II. My Scott has poorly done its job. Maybe an interested member would help me - Thanks !!

Sounds like this is somewhat similar in complexity to the Machins!
