Just a "Heads up" for members I trade with, or "give aways" A 50g A4 format, is $2.60 airmail Aust to US A 64g A4 format is $6.40 Ergo, if I trade, say 150 stamps, it is common sense I base my inclusions on the <50g rate ( Jen B ) Some of my trades are mint lightly hinged on page, rather than lift the stamps I'll send pages and loose stamps and whatever amount up to 50g I'll attempt to balance any owing over the next trade etc. Hope that makes sense. Sending the whole page seems slightly wasteful to me seeing that airmail is so expensive, why not lift the stamps hinge and all?

Sending the whole page seems slightly wasteful to me seeing that airmail is so expensive, why not lift the stamps hinge and all? Indeed, experience is a tough master. I did lift all stamps off page, and managed 150 stamps under 50 grammes, it was close though. I do not lift the stamp hinges, too dangerous with "thins", I place one leg of the PRINZ long pointy tongs under the stamp, and sever the hinge. one still has to be careful, with Romania the gum "grabs" sometimes near the hinge, esp if one has slobbered. If they are Dennison hinges, then removal is a dream.

I have found that if the hinges are lifted in this manner: Then, the hinge will peel off the album and no thins on the stamp will occur. But, sometimes severing the hinge is a good alternative.
