I don't own that exact unit, but it's been my experience that the batteries will last quite a long time. Of course, I don't use it every day. I've got 2 identical ones I bought before the turn of the century. I don't even know what kind of battery is in them because I've yet to have to replace either battery! (Battery came pre-installed with the scales.)

Nice scale. The scale I have isn't that compact, I think it has a maximum limit of 1kg or 1.5kg. It takes a standard 9 volt battery and after at least two years of use I have yet to change the battery. Unless for some reason your concerned that certain features won't shut off I wouldn't worry about pulling the battery. I used a couple of other scales other than the one I'm currently using and they all had an automatic shutoff after 30 or 60 seconds of no activity which is sometimes a pain. When I'm weighing something up that's taking me a bit I have to keep bouncing the weight with my thumb to keep it from shutting off.

I confess using a digital kitchen scale for letters and parcels. Works up to 5 kg's and has precision of 1 gram. Of course it doesn't fit into a pocket, but on the other hand I don't have that much need to carry it around -k-

I have a round scale (20cm diameter) which I use for mail. I bought from coles or Woolies a while ago on special for 10 bucks. Still yours looks so nifty that I am tempted, even though I would have no use of a portable one - nice buy!
