If I remember correctly, the designer Jan Wellerfors wanted to return to a more traditional design like the old-time Swedish locals. Much of the modern stuff had deteriorated into Self-adhesive stickers....like many Postal Services !! This was an attempt to change things and I think the effort was worthwhile.
