Napex 2014 will be June 6–8, at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner, 7920 Jones Branch Drive, McLean, Va. Bourse hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday — philatelic exhibits open at 8 a.m. Admission and parking are free.
This APS World Series of Philately show features more than 200 frames of philatelic exhibits, 20 literature exhibits, and 80 dealers. Eleven postal administrations will be onsite during the show — the U.S. Postal Service, United Nations, Israel, and Nordica representing eight Scandinavian countries. The United Nations will host a first day ceremony Friday at 11 a.m. releasing six definitive Iconical Architectural stamps using three currencies with the designer Sergio Baradat as the featured speaker. Regency Superior will conduct public auction Saturday at noon and Sunday at 11 a.m.
There will be a seven booth cachetmakers bourse Saturday 11 a.m.–4 p.m. National conventions of the Germany Philatelic Society and the Machine Cancel Society with meetings throughout the weekend.
Other societies are holding regional/local meetings on a wide range of countries and topics and are open to the public. Typical of these presentation’s will be the International Philippine Philatelic Society, noon–2 p.m. on Saturday, featuring Erwin and Titchie Tiongson whose topic — Philippines on the Potomac — shows places in Washington DC that have significance to Philippine-American history and culture.
Napex will have four show engraved cachets, three show cancels, and a gold foil souvenir card representing three show themes for the Centennial of the Star-Spangled Banner, 150th Anniversary of the Civil War, and the Centennial of the British Troops Burning Washington.
