The next 7 scans are from the Robert Gray Used Collection of Ireland. I was lucky enough to be able to purchase his collection and I have decided to leave it intact as a reference source for identifying the different overprints. Mr. Gray spent many years studying these issues so I'm confident these are accurately labeled and genuine. I hope these scans will help others to be able to identify these sometimes confusing overprints. Seeing an actual example can really help! Just discovered that page one is missing. I no longer have a scanner, but here is a snapshot of the missing page
Here is page 1 scanned at 600 res;

This is an amazing collection. It is nice to look at these stamps especially since I don't have a single one.

Great stuff Philatelia! Especially in fine used, which I much prefer over mint.

Thanks for the compliment. I'll try to scan some of the material I've added to the collection including forerunners, essays and coils. I agree about the used vs mint - one of my stamp friends pointed out that every used stamp is unique. Interesting thought, eh? Everyone thinks I started specializing in Ireland because my father was Irish. Well that did pique my interest, but this collection really made me a fan. There are so many issues to flyspeck in early Ireland - and I just LOVE flyspecking - finding a variety in a bag of cheapie stamps is a hoot and a half. And it is one of the few countries that it is still possible to complete without hitting the lottery. I sold several other collections to pay for this one and it was worth it. I also love the perfins. If anyone has any Irish perfins or revenues or bags of older cheapies for flyspecking that need a home, well my Irish orphanage will take them in - but please wait until I get my full membership here to contact me for trades or sales - getting close, though .

For members who would like to see the Irish forerunners - Philatelicweb.com - forerunnersFor those wanting to see and sort the Irish overprint - Philatelicweb.com - Ireland overprintsHope this is useful to some ... For those not familiar with my site pages of this type - multiple images can be opened on screen at the same time, then moved to allow the differences to be compared ... [Moderator edit - philatelicweb.com is no longer active and all its image links for this user's posts are now broken - some have been archived elsewhere and those images will be restored over time.]
