I have only 1 Montserrat stamp in my worldwide collection and it is one of these. Sadly, I had it misidentified. So much to learn, so little time...

Like the expanding Universe, there is no end to stamp collecting...... BTW. This highlights the beauty of the Scott Catalogue, which trumps Gibbons, at the end of each stamp issue listing, one can establish if there are varieties by noting the text "See......." This was very helpful with the Ireland definitives varieties.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

This colourful set from 1965 features fruits and vegetables of Montserrat. It just made my cut off date for this country. It is a pretty set and I am sharing it mostly in case JeffS was not aware of the 2 citrus stamps.

There are prettier sets round but the engraving is nice in this set issued in 1932 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the colonization of Montserrat.

This rather hard to find Montserrat Scott 9 I have always approached cautiously due to forgeries. I finally picked up this used copy at well below 10% of catalogue value. The colour, perforation and watermark tells me it is genuine. The last question mark is my suspicion that it has had a revenue cancel removed. For the price I can live with that. My next step will be to give it a warm soapy bath.

I must admit that other subjects have piqued my interest after attending several local club meetings. On auction night, I won a page of ten Montserrat stamps. Attached are two examples. Scott: 106 CD304 - Silver Wedding issue of George VI and Elizabeth (1949) 127 CD312 - Coronation issue of Queen Elizabeth II (1953)

The last new arrival of the week is this mint SG 5 with an inverted watermark. There are several pulled perfs but still a nice example of this stamp.

As a small island Montserrat philatelic covers are what you normally find so it was nice to see an actual postal used cover in the collection I was gifted even if it is much newer than what I collect. The stamp is a Scott 887 celebrating the Marconi radio centenary. After retirement from the Auditor General office in Ottawa the receiver of this letter continues working as a consultant to many countries audit departments.
