Paraphrasing a note in my 2009 Scott catalog, Canada's Treasury Board ruled that on and after June 30, 1939 all stamps used by Government Departments should be perforated O H M S (On His Majesty's Service) and that the Post Office Department was to make arrangements required to provide that all stamps sold to Government Departments were to be perforated with the letters O H M S. The sale of such perforated stamps was discontinued in 1948.
The note also mentions that listings of these perforated officials was contained in the Scott Classic Specialized Catalogue (had I known this a few days ago, I would have jumped at Philatarium's offering).
If anyone has a Classic Specialized, I would appreciate learning the listings (i.e., catalog numbers, if assigned) of the stamps shown below (a much-appreciated gift from firstfrog2013).

The Unitrade lists some varieties on the small OHMS perforations (narrow/wide "O") that are not listed in my older 2007 Scott Classic. Maybe the newer editions list them. It would be useful to have the Unitrade pages (should be about 2 pages).
Also, be aware that fake perfins are known to exist. Some of them are documented in the Reference Manual of BNA Fakes, Forgeries, and Counterfeits series.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50
An early learning I have from updating my Unitrade 2000 to a 2024 is how much the OHMS perfins have evolved due to in depth study over the past 2 decades. I was aware of the 5 hole and 4 hole differences but see now there are now 2 recognized types of the 4 hole perfins. I have not searched out or bought any of these in many years. My dated Minkus album only has 2 pages for some of the 4 hole examples. I have a stock sheet with 5 of the older 5 hole types and a few dozen 4 hole types that I do not have pages for. I will have fun now resorting all the 4 hole examples by types 09 and 010. Once that is done I may look at adding to this collection. The catalogue value of some of these are impressive. Forgeries is also a concern now as well especially with the 5 hole types. Hopefully the few I have were all found by me prior to the fakes coming along.

FDI It does not appear there has been any great changes in the 2024 Unitrade. The O8-143 and O8-176 in my collection have high value but the cost of expertizing hardly makes it worth it since I am not selling and I never bought them as singles. They would have been from my dad's collection or in old collections I have bought over the years. I found it quite easy identifying the O9 and O10 4 hole stamps in my collection.

I am still pursuing those elusive five hole perfs(OA's) they are pricy when available which they weren't from my local stamp dealer when I was a young fledgling.
