I don't generally collect blocks (it's a space and mounting issue) but think I picked these O35 Official G overprints up in an estate auction last spring. They are MNH and pristine. What I'm wondering, and I should know this, is what do the numbers 18 and 19 on the selvage indicate?

In my sphere, I would suggest they are Plate Numbers, (or quality control numbers?) if a flaw or wear develops, they know where to look. As for Canada, it is just a guess, unusual to see a hand written "19" See Hungary and Romania, for all sorts of Graffitti, notes, numbers scratches etc in the selvedge. (Photo. issues) (Generally referred to as, "Marginal Inscriptions")
