So the last issue of Details, Canada Post's normally quarterly magazine, was a little thin. The latest issue contains information on the new issues for July and August only. The closing paragraph of the of the blurb by the Director of stamp services say this;
So any speculation on what this mystery issue might be?
A quick bit of research turned up these heroic, historic milestones; 2013 will mark the 80th anniversary of Superman's first appearance in Science Fiction: The Advance Guard of Future Civilization #3 in 1933. The Superman we know didn't appear until 1938 in DC comics' Action Comics #1. 2013 will be 75th anniversary of that appearance, so I am betting the new mystery issue is commemorating Superman's milestone year (one or the other, or maybe both, but I think more likely the later).

I agree it's likely to be Superman stamp (especially with movie boosting sales). I just hope they'd do the honors to original comic art (from different decades). The Jersey stamps for 'Man of steel' were IMHO such a disgrace (pic taken from Jersey Post website, hence not an upload): Mod -Please follow Forum rules when posting images, thank you

The actor who portrayed Superman in Man of Steel is from Jersey, so I give them the benefit of the doubt.

In the first couple of Superman films Margot Kidder who played Lois Lane , was born in Yellowknife NWT a few years back the city of Yellowknife called a street after here. They renamed the street Lois Lane. Just a little superman trivia for you.

Lois Lane... clever. Love the little play on words. I like Canada's first Superman issue. It maintains the classic comic book style illustration with the traditional Superman word-mark. #1579 from October 2, 1995. (image borrowed from the Canadian Postal Archive)

Hey canadianphilatelist, I believe you mean this is Captain Canuck? Is he celebrating any notable anniversaries this year?
