Stumbled on this little guy at an antique market not far from home. Almost missed it. Only measures 89 x14mm. My Scott's Specialized doesn't show this in their Distilled Spirits section. But it does say that Distilled Spirits Excise Stamps were discontinued in 1959. Anyone have any info? Or any others to show?

A bit more follow up on this one, from our friends at Jack Daniels (who else??) One of the bottles shown here carries a tax seal strip similar to the one shown above. Also a nice overview of State decal tax stamps. www.jdcollectorspage.com/TaxlabelsHistory.html#anchor-TopPerhaps we should all delve deeper onto this.

What I collect: If I have a catalogue for it, I collect it. And I have many catalogues ....

Imagine how low the survival rate is for these labels intact. Unless you were a collector and you soaked the label off the bottle before opening it, there would only be ripped pieces to save.
