What is the point to collecting coil stamps as coil pairs? It's pretty obvious a stamp is a coil stamp if it only has 2 sides perforated. I know the Scott National does coil pairs. I think the White Ace may do them also. But I don't think anyone else does them.
I don't see the point to collecting 2 stamps side by side that are exactly the same.
But that's just me.
I look to the community to enlighten me and show me the error of my ways.

Large holes in the centre, with reduced sizes moving towards the edge. A Pair is required to evidence the format. Modern coils may be preferred as a brace, for cosmetic appearance, perhaps makes a more balanced image. Maybe a "proof" against reperforation.

That makes some sense. I'm still not going to collect cols in pairs, but I can see why others want to.

I have a Scott National album and try to fill all of its spaces (at least as many as I can afford). For the pages for coil pairs, I try to fill them with line pairs.

I find a similar incidence with say Paraguay.
Steiner page gives one the opportunity to mount "Strip of 5" or "folded strip of 8" etc. (The stamps are often then shown sideways) For me the page looks unbalanced, and I would prefer to mount each stamp singularly. I can see no reason (unless there is a tete beche) for mounting stamps thus.
Early engraved days would differ, strips were used for plating.
