Any comparison of the Showgard cutter to the $80 rotary cutter sold by Amos Advantage? I would like to cut to measurements. Historically I have just used mounts for high CV and MNH using a scrap book guillotine cutter. The move to soaking off old hinges, cutting mounts and assembling a hingless album seems like a lot more work than relocating hinged stamps from old pages to new...especially when some nicely hinged collections can use the same hinge . Also. Where would I find pictures to make a few early pages similar to the Palo Albums (Stiener pages with pictures)? I see nice mint pictures on Stiener pages sold on ebay as well. I just need the pictures to make my own and only Some of the early expensive stamps

Hi quanah For almost all mounts, the Showgard cutter is more than adequate and cheaper. I have been using mine since the late 1980's and have had no problems. Mine is the smaller 601 guillotine but I recommend the larger one. Subway has the Showgard guillotines: Subway Showgard Guillotine - Large (recommended, also $29 is a lot cheaper than $80). I would also recommend buying Showgard's "Philatelic Gauge", it helps in selecting mount size: Subway Showgard Philatelic Gauge For images check out StampWorld: www.stampworld.com/en_US/maps/Europe/It really isn't all that much work. Using the guillotine makes things go pretty quickly. Jerry B

However, from looking at the rotary cutter sold by Amos, I think the primary advantage of the Showgard beside pricing would be its adjustable slide on the metric scale. It appears as if you have to "eyeball" placement on the rotary cutter and that doesn't bode well for consistent cutting of multiple mounts.
