Is this the way things are done nowadays ? Whisper it and no one will notice ? Hardly a murmur on the news or in the papers, but there were suspicions when the Israel Post website went down two days ago. Today it came back up again........with the 'good' news. A postal rate hike of almost 100% to most foreign destinations !!!!!!!!!!!!! We are all gobsmacked and the one or three collectors and sellers of stamps that I know have already contacted me with their opinions [not for children]. I will be looking into alternative ways if there are any. I have already been given a few ideas that I will be looking in to. Has anyone else known such a rate hike in one swoop ?? Absolutely shocked here!

In the United States, the process of proposing/approving postal rate increases is transparent and provides forewarning of potential rate hikes. Individuals can express their concerns in response to a Postal Regulatory Commission request for comment when a postage rate increase proposal is pending before the PRC.

That's not right, they should have had some notice. We had a price hike here in Canada, the rate for a international went from $1.80 to $2.50. Lots of notice was given.

We should run a survey of international postal rates for, say a similar length journey for a normally sized letter and a small package. It would be interesting to see a comparison. If anyone is interested in doing this please follow this link
