Alan, I just had an idea. You've provided us with such great knowledge, in so many threads, you might consider writing an ebook. I'll buy one.

Great study Allan, thanks for posting.
Here's a part block of the IODE coronation seals...might indicate they were issued in a large sheet.
Any interest in adding die-cut coronation stickers to the thread?
Another interesting use of the word 'sticker' ! I believe this label, foil though it may be, is very attractive and it has water-activated gum too. Where I come from a sticker is something you can buy in the toy shop for your younger kids to play with at home. It's that darned terminology thing again !!

Parkshaw Set - CANADAI suggested that these were for the American or Canadian markets and it was has been suggested that Australia may also be an option - and this may still be the case for this hand stamped type. I can confirm Australia was indeed marketed, albeit in slightly different form. I have the original Stamp Counter, advertising Cardboard Billboard, (Possibly the only one in existence) and sundry packet covers etc (severely damaged) I'll post scans when I dig them out.

"Sticker" was commonly used especially during WWII to describe those small die-cut silver or gold foil labels with patriotic slogans. But I agree, these are quite different from the self-adhesive stickers you can get in a dollar store these days.

My first purchase from the APS StampStore (which arrived this afternoon) included all 72 of the Harrison & Sons Regalia stamps. They are unused with full original gum and are individually mounted on quadrille pages. The stamps are quite impressive and, thanks to tallanent's study, I've got a wealth of information on them.

Of course, the main difference between the original Parkshaw versions and the later Vallencey stamps is that Parkshaw was issued prior to the coronation and Vallencey was issued afterwards and depict some coronation scenes. Here is the Vallencey sheet, over 2 scans, which I would suggest were better designed replacing the muddy borders with a uniform light purple and removing the random colour blocks. Although I don't have a complete sheet of the Parkshaw stamps, I do have a complete set in blocks and I have reconstructed the sheet over 2 scans: Scan_20210215 by Daniel, on Flickr Scan_20210215 (2) by Daniel, on Flickr Looking online, I note that the crosshairs marginal marking, seen at the top of each scan on my example, can also be found on the opposite margin. The plate 2 imprint, if applicable (but not in this example), would be found in the top right in the second scan. Here is the Parkshaw envelope: Scan_20210215 (3) by Daniel, on Flickr

I wonder what happened to Allan's ( tallanent ) images. They are not showing. Can anyone see them ? The codes are there. And I can see the image at Philatelics.

His images are likely not hosted on a secure site -- see this post. The "fix" is to either have Allan add SSL to his site or transfer (laboriously) all of his images to a secure host. [EDIT: I've replaced all of Allan's images on the first page of this thread. Will start on page 2 when I can find some time.]

It's a shame that some of the pictures are missing from earlier posts... I believe that all of the missing images in this thread have now been replaced. Please let me know if I missed any.

New images look great. Thanks for adding these Steve.
Here's a bit more information on the IODE Coronation seal sheet configuration, i.e 5 x 10.

Thanks for attending to that so promptly Steve tomiseksj (and Londonbus1) the thread makes much more sense now. On another forum, I noted that one poster stated that the reason that all of these Cinderellas were produced was because the Post Office was not, originally, going to commemorate the event with a postage stamp. There is some evidence for this, see this pdf link from The Postal Museum. Edward VIII's coronation was set for 12th May 1937 and when he abdicated the date was kept for George VI. It was thought that there was insufficient time to plan a special issue when the definitives were seen as the top priority. Harrison & Sons, who by that time, were the main British stamp printers had submitted designs on their own initiative although these weren't used. Ultimately Harrisons would print the one British Coronation postage stamp, designed by Edmund Dulac, in large quantities. So, 1937 was a very busy year for Harrisons with the Coronation postage stamp and multiple sets of labels.
