I should add that I have 3 times written to others for exactly the same item. One of them, a top GB dealer, withdrew them [He knew what they were and did not want to risk bad publicity]. The other two told me to 'get stuffed' !!
Let's see what this one does.

I have also just sent this seller a message telling them what the items are ....
Will post the reply if I get one, but not holding my breath on this

A quick reply and I have written again and explained in detail about the items. I suggested he let the bidders know.
"I am not certain what you mean by a worthless junk cutout. Do you have information on the context in which they were printed? I purchased them about 20 years ago as part of a really nice Great Britain philatelic related collection that included lots of different reproductions of Great Britain items including wonderland stamps, local issues, reproductions of one pound Victoria stamps etc. I would appreciate any information you might have. I could not find any reference in my search for the items. Thanks for the information."

Sometimes it helps if you inform the seller that the item is being discussed on a stamp forum with a direct link to his item.

I'll see what his response is and I may do that jack. I also sent him a link to a 'real McCoy' elsewhere on eBay.

2 more messages received:
1]. "I'll let the bidders know and thanks for the information. For some reason I have never had the sheet and I had two sets of these. They are really finely printed and have full original gum so I can see how they were taken out. Thanks for the information. Unfortunately because of the timing of the close of the auction. Ebay will not let you withdraw an item when it has bids in the last 12 hours unless you sell it to the highest bidder at the time. Thanks for the info. Ironically I have another set of these. The person whose collection it cam from had a number of similar items for sale including the 1912 George V ideal stamp and other legitimate items and had put them on a fairly nice page that said "These are sometimes referred to as proofs". I have a collection of some 100,000 cinderellas that I am looking to sell to support my retirement. I had a lot of fun collecting and now am turning to selling it to see if I invested wisely. Anything you are interested in I may have it."
2]. "Thanks, I did just find some in my collection. I had them in my Red Cross collection rather than the philatelic materials. Thanks for following up. I sent an email to each of the bidders on the item and let them know the circumstances. I do strive to describe everything correctly. I appreciate the help in tracking them down."
Sounds genuine and I have purchased from him before. I was about to tonight when I saw those and it put me off. Left a bitter taste, as they say.

Similar reply recieved here as follows ....
I had another person tell me these were not legitimate but he couldn't tell me where they were from. The stamps were in a very nice collection and listed as proofs and so I took the original collectors info. I do have the red cross sheets and I just looked at them and you are absolutely right. These had been cut pretty well and had original gum. I have decided to let the buyer know what they are so that there is no confusion on the items.
Unfortunately, ebay does not allow you to withdraw a lot when there are bids on the item in the last 12 hours.
Thanks for the information. I have an extensive cinderella collection among which are 1000s of British related items that I'll be selling.
Thanks again, Richard Stucky

I was watching the auction, only 2 bidders and in the last hour it received bids from both bidders. One was in the last 10 minutes, guess they didn't check their messages.

Just found two more sellers offering these same vandalized half-labels. I'll report back when they answer.
