Attended my first Maresch auction last night. Not a 10 on the excitement scale, but the prices were impressive. Actually managed to pick up a couple of things on my meagre budget. Got this #4xi (scarlet vermillion on thin paper) for a song. Bid on several but to no avail. This was certainly the ugly duckling of the bunch, but I'm happy.

You know it is coming, so I might as well get on with it: "Nice beaver." That's a nice pickup.

Not sure from looking at your scan but it looks like there is something going on in the lower left corner on the right side of the "3".
Nice stamp with four margins. Do you collect early Canada?

What I collect: My main collecting area is focused on Canadian stamps printed from steel engraved plates. Specifically re-entries and constant plate varieties.

The extra red next to the left 3 seems to be part of a red cancellation or marking. It also shows on the left side of the right 3. Maybe be part of a PAID marking or reciever's stamp. Not discernible in the picture so can't be sure.
