Stamp Insider for March-April 2015The March-April issue of the Stamp Insider, journal of the Federation of New York Philatelic Societies, is online and available for free download in PDF format or viewing online with page turning. It is available in both PDF and HTML5-friendly format at: www.stampinsider.orgIn the lead article — “It’s a Frame Up” — contributing editor Steve Swain examines the plethora of collars, frames, borders, and rings that wrapped around postal stationery and framed stamps, that merchants employed to advertise their businesses. Other articles include “The Great Movie Stamp Prop Mystery” that explores the MGM created cinderella that was used in its 1945 “A Letter for Evie,” one philatelist’s search for covers with New York City postmarks showing postal zone numbers, and part two of “Literature and Stamp Collecting in which John H. Bloor of the Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library cites some of the volumes collectors should have in their personal library. The featured video is “State Birds & Flowers.” The late Charles Kuralt in a CBS Sunday segment interviews Arthur and Alan Singer who designed the state Bird & Flower stamps issued in 1982. Learn how cartoonist Stan Burdick helped select Rhode Island’s bird on page 72 in this issue. -30-<script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/bfbc7d1c/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script>

The Movie Prop Stamps Look at you rod222 your collection is in the limelight, well done you for not getting upset for someone using an image of yours ( but a little mention is always nice ) We are coming up to 2 years online and in that short time we have built a nice little philatelic oasis. I often do a Google a subject and find myself here, I sure when a journalist is on the hunt they visit here. Some of the threads we have is a wealth of information, the Canada Cindy for example is a researchers paradise. The postmark calendar thread has some great covers of Russian postal history but I cant forget the great cancels that alanl shows us each day. its come part of my daily routine to check that thread each evening. We have a nice culture here, the sharing of information is top notch. We have threads where one can be a novice and be mentored by experts, no one feels put down. I love the fact that we don't see any one up man-ship here.

One of my new projects in my "Fakes, Forgeries & Fantasies" album. Looking for a better, color scan of that cover though, if anyone knows where it is!! If there has been updates, would like that as well. This next week or so, I plan on purchasing the 6 stamp set (3 perf / 3 imperf) to add into my album.
