So what covers do you have with lots of stamps on them...and I mean LOTS ! Let's see 'em. Yesterday I received a $2 item in an envelope that was graced with 315 stamps ! It was from james and I have been wondering how many others there might be out there with similar frankings ? I was privileged to have had the chance to pose with what Sandafayre Auctions claimed was the 'Cover with the most stamps' in 2010. It was at the major International Exhibition held in London during the Festival of Stamps. It was not for sale and was part of their stand display. If I remember correctly, there were over 600 stamps on this German Inflation cover. BUT, it did have a very large added portion affixed to the envelope to carry all those 'extras' !! So does that one count as a single cover ? It would be nice to see yours too, so if you have a cover 'that is loaded', post it up here. And if you know of any others that have been in the Philatelic news, let us know. Londonbus1......

This doesn't even come close, but, I thought it interesting that it was sent by the USPO to fulfill a philatelic order in 1953.

I don't know...I think james' cover looks a little philatelic. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I once bought a kiloware lot of Iceland that contained a bunch of cutouts of parcel cards from the 1970s. That was the first time I had seen repeated use of the "stamps stacked one over top the other" way of franking. Stamps were affixed over top of each other like that, always with the face value showing, sometimes as many as 8 or 10 at a time. I still have a few of those in my collection, recognizable by the funny little section of cancellation showing on the stamp. Fortunately, that style didn't really catch on - nowadays with everything being self-adhesive, the goo left behind on the bottom stamps is a pain in the neck!
And Bus, that $5 Canada flag stamp is fantastic - I've never seen that one before.

I often do the same as James does, I often end up buying discount postage. When its a 5 cents stamp and franking is $5 or more I start to run out of room. I think I sent one to KirkS back on SCF a few years ago. I think I did one with 150 stamps once. That $5 flag is it not the new issue on fabric? While on the subject here is a set of flag stamps I have sitting around, think they might find a home on the bus?

As Admin said, it's the first Canada stamp on Fabric, satin rayon fabric to be precise. It comes from a miniature sheet. It is beautiful and my first one...it's staying on the cover though. Sadly, and as luck would have it, it appears to be the only stamp on the cover without a cancel !! Now what were the chances of that happening !! The new Flag stamps [M/S and 'p' stamp] were issued to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Canadian Flag [Feb 15th 1965]. Londonbus1

Really neat stuff! I'm surprised that wasn't destroyed with a marker along the way!

When the first uncut press sheet came out for the baseball players, I split the cost of a sheet with someone on another forum. I reused the tube they came in and covered the entire outside with stamps. Now I wish I had taken a picture of the tube.

My first thought was that I hope they used a sponge to wet all those stamps. Otherwise that's a lot 'o lickin'.

I would humbly disagree, cjd. That was a working envelope! It was noted at our stamp club meeting the other night, that if you rub the new Canada flag stamp enough it will start to come apart. So Enjoy the 'fabric' feel once, then leave well enough alone. Also want to say, I sent a Christmas package to relatives in the States last year with some pressies, and ended up covering the entire box on 5 sides with stamps. Sadly didn't count them, or take a picture (the lady at the post office did), but it was pretty impressive.

Ha! I just noticed how I wrote 'Please do not bend' on the corner of that envelope. PLEASE! How typically Canadian!

I can't recall where I got this cover, probably at a local stamp club or dealer's bourse ten or more years ago. Doubtful it's philatelic--probably no high values were available to mail some schoolwork a long ways home. I am sure I didn't pay more than a couple dollars for it. I kind of like large multi-frankings, I'll have to dig up some similar Indonesian, Yugoslavian, and Germany inflation era covers that are similar. 133 stamps in total!262.50 riels total postage, sent from USOM to an English professor in Massachusetts. Very hard to read the date but it's 1957. here are the stamps:63 x 50 cents indigo (Scott #39) 1955 King Norodom Suramarit definitive issue 25 x 3.00 rielbrown-orange/carmine (Scott #45) 1955 King and Queen definitive issue 22 x 5.00 riel blk/dk green (Scott # 47) 1955 King and Queen definitive issue 23 x 2.00 riel grn/ultra/carmine (Scott # 59) 1957 UN admission, 1st anniv. issue total 262.50 riels It's 12 x 15 inches (about 30 x 38cm) usually keep my larger covers in a large binder, however this one is so big that I keep it in a dark corner and forgot all about it until now. One day I'd like to think I would have the time to put together an exhibit of multiple franked, giant covers. Wonder if that's been done before....
