I was reading a post a few days ago commenting on the attractiveness of early Queen Elizabeth II stamps, and the same day ran across the first two semipostals issued for Fiji under Liz (B3-B4 in Scott). One of the dangers in relying almost entirely on a Scott Classic and a Gibbons British Commonwealth that both end in 1952 for Commonwealth stuff is that the later issues are often off my radar screen. I don't recall noticing these until now. The B4, especially, is pretty sharp. I don't know if it is the colors or what, but the B3 is less convincing to me.

One wonders how you "run across" stamps Maybe you have hundreds of albums.....maybe a big box, you stick your hand in like a lucky dip , whatever, sounds like great fun. "Health" with a big stem of Bananas, how appropriate, I gobble a bunch every two days or so.

My wife is buying 600 bananas today (something going on at church requires them). I'd settle for the Fiji banana boat load.

I was looking through a dealer's Fiji stock, hoping for nice cancels, and after finding these, only, Suva Sunburst cancel on a 1d and I went to the back of the book to see if there were any revenues tucked away, and spotted these. I picked up B1-B4, but the two KGVI semis don't do much for me.

I'm trying to imagine just how much space 600 bananas take up...yikes.

If so, look forward to seeing them

Fiji Multiples. Cut Squares For those of the milder constitution, look away now, this could look ugly. Due to poor , indistinct Postmarks, I shall probably soak, sometime in the future. The large multiple adds to £ 2 and 8 shillings, a sizeable Christmas parcel, when that was posted.

Not revs but semis. I wasn't going to show them because they did not really grab me, but here you go...Fiji B1 and B2: I like them better seeing them scanned with a little enlargement. I always say, what stamp doesn't benefit from a little enlarging?

Some Pre GVI stamps Left, an SG 1 from a well known eBay dealer Discounted to $500 US and "Guaranteed Genuine" but no cert, type of paper (quadrille or laid batonne) or image of back So who can argue with its genuineness? On the right, a certified on quadrille paper showing features and cert describing it as a position 17 - $2000US Noticeable differences between the two. Several imitations and forgeries exist of these More Genuine OnesSG 79 SG 242-245

Nice, as always, but I'm scratching my head at the 253 Die I...what happened in the bottom right corner of the vignette?

Has anyone ever seen some additional markings on SG 255 above the top windows in the middle of the image (at the corner windows) that appear to be almost like 3 x's?

On a different note, is anyone interested in the current series of overprints of the 1995 definitive bird series that began in 2006 and is still being expanded in lieu of a new set of definitives?

Are you able to post this image with some enhancements to point out the area you are talking about? I followed the link to look at the image, but wasn't really sure if I saw what you are asking about. Thanks!

Yes, the circle highlights the markings I am referring to. That area is normally clean.

Agreed. Has anyone seen any new provisional overprint issues in the last year? This 50c overprint with two large XX's as the obliterator is the latest issue I am familiar with.

Just for reference, the #1 in the thread above looks like a position 13. (based on an illustration in Fiji's Times Express Stamps, by David Gillis)

I am in the process of scanning my collection and putting it on my website. I have sorted my Fiji King George VI stamps based on the details in the Potter & Shelton listings of the various printings. This is not a complete source of information but still gives you a lot to work with. They stopped recording printings in 1952, so any later printings were missed. If you are interested in this area please check out the site. There are eight pages of scans that you can view.
