A general thread for German revenues that might not otherwise warrant a thread of their own? Stamp Duty revenues, Reichs-Stempel-Abgabe, were two-part stamps commencing in 1885, according to Forbin, with a central vertical perf separation. You see them together, but more frequently you see them as halves. I picked up a small lot of halves, and here are two side by side, to give an idea of what the complete item would look like. Forbin doesn't explain a thing about the various numbers. Anyone know how they were numbered?

The Börsenumsatzsteuer (stock transfer tax stamp) was first introduced in Germany following the Imperial Stamp Act of 1881. The Act imposed a tax on certain transfers of stocks and securities.
The numbers are control numbers. I've never seen a description of the specific meanings of the various number/letter combinations (ex. 019B or 042V). I suspect they denoted a batch or roll, with the larger numerals denoting the pair.
Those shown are likely from the 1907 set, based on design and cancel dates. If they have a watermark, they definitely are.

Is this a revenue or banknote? Banknote! 100 Imperial Marks, issued 1908.
But who are the damsels? The goddess Germania and her maids of industry and agriculture? They deserved captions. Certainly nicer than having to stare at Kaiser Wilhelm II.
