I like that you're scanning these in at a large size, so that we can really enjoy the images. (Same holds true for your other threads as well.)
Thanks very much for showing these!

Cable Car on Turn Table at Powell & Market Streets. Oh My! They had to turn those things by hand! I don't know if it's changed in the last 10 years or so, but the last time I was there, they still turned them by hand!

What's going on with "The whip"? I presume one slides down, on a mat. The escalator, stair looking thing, takes your mat to the top?

Retail Business Center of Market Street at Night That's 543 Market Street on the right. HINZ & LANDT (INC.) Among the leading emporiums of art and fashion in Los Angeles Is the large branch store of tho celebrated millinery house of Hinz & Landt (Inc.) of San Francisco. The Los Angeles branch at 525 South Broadway was established about ten months ago, with Mr. Carl Welgelt, an experienced dealer in millinery, as Its manager. The principal main house ot this concern, of which Mr. J. C. Berendsen and J. F. Bannlck are the principals, is located at 543 Market street, San Francisco. Its stocks are Imported direct from 3 Rue Bergere, Parlß, and 622 Broadway. New York, comprising millinery and straw goods. The house is famous and has a widespread trade throughout the Pacific coast country and the southwest. The Los Angeles branch occupies three floors, 25x120 feet each, and the variety constitutes a duplicate of the San Francisco house, comprising choice lots of the latest London, Paris and New York novelties in pattern hats and bonnets, all descriptions of straw goods, frames, Milks, velvets, chiffons, ribbons, laces, feathers, flowers and everything that is the latest and handsomest in millinary goods. These goods are sold wholesale only. Mr. Welgelt has been extremely enterprising and in this brief time has built up a flourishing business.

On the side of the taller building on the right side of the card (south side of Market Street), you'll see a portion of a sign that says "The E ...", in a Coca-Cola-style script. That would be the location of "The Emporium", a department store that lasted until the Macy's pillaging of iconic US department stores. It was an amazing building in its day (and later), with an amazing dome in the middle. There's now an enclosed shopping mall there, but the dome was retained. (It was the only thing retained.) Here are a couple of articles. The second one has some quite good pictures. (I used to live in a suburb of San Francisco, and visited this store fairly often. With a city so aware of its history, and typically quite good about holding onto it, it's a pity that this building got lost. But thanks for the memories, zipper!) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emporium_(San_Francisco)blog.sfgate.com/parenting/2011/04/28/a-hundred-years-of-the-emporium-in-san-francisco-photos/-- Dave

You're welcome. I've done all the postcard threads, but am having a hard time trying to remember where I posted stamps. Is there a way I can search for all my posts where I uploaded an image?

You have my thanks as well. In answer to your question, fortunately there is! Select the "Search" option from the menu bar (not the TSF Google Search option) and follow the simple instructions below:
