Switzerland is not the only alpine country with hotel post stamps. Until now, I did not have an example from Austria. Here is a 5-groschen stamp issued by the proprietors of the Kesselfall Alpenhaus in the 1920's for the carrying of mail to the train at Zell am See. There are apparently two different frame colors, blue and green, and a second stamp for another hotel, the Moserboden. They could be used interchangeably. According to the hotel-post page at austrianphilately here: www.austrianphilately.com/kaprun/index.htmthe hotel ran a summer post office for visitors from 1896 to 1939 or 1940, with a break for World War I. The following image of the hotel came from that page, which is well worth a visit, if the topic seems even moderately of interest. Lots of information to peruse. A hundred years ago, that had to seem pretty exotic.
