Hi
I have found that the table tool in TSF (ProBoards) leaves a lot to be desired. The following procedures outlines a method to convert a WORD Table or Text to a JPG/JPEG image. With minor modifications the procedures can be applied to EXCEL Spread Sheets.
These procedures alleviate the need of any application to convert WORD to a JPG/JPEG image. So far I haven't found an application that did any conversion exactly. Something was always missing.
Note: This is for Windows
Existing Table(s) or Text
1. Open the WORD Document containing the Table or Text to be converted 2. Open a Blank WORD Document 3. Open Microsoft Paint 4. Highlight the Table and any included Text, or the plain Text 5. Copy the selected item(s) to the ClipBoard, Ctrl+C 6. Switch to the Blank Document and Paste the ClipBoard into it, CTRL+V Note: This step is really for convenience and may be omitted. If omitted opening a Blank Document is not necessary 7. Insure nothing is highlighted and on the Keyboard press Print/Screen (puts the Screen image on the ClipBoard) 8. Display Microsoft PAINT and type CTRL+V Note: This procedure converts the entire screen to an image 9. Save the PAINT image as a JPG/JPEG image Note: It is recommended to not do any cropping, or other procedures, in PAINT as some formatting may be lost 10. After all WORD items have been converted and saved WORD and PAINT may be closed 11. Open a Photo Editor (I usually use PhotoPad by NCH) 12. In the Photo Editor import your image and perform any cropping, size change, etc. that is desired.
New Table(s) or Text
1. Open a Blank WORD Document 2. Create the Table or Text to be converted 3. Follow the above steps 6 - 12
The WORD Table or Text has now been converted to a JPG/JPEG image and may be uploaded to PhotoBucket or any other storage.

I just use a screen grab using the snipping tool on windows.
I agree the table function on proboards is a royal pain.

Hi Jack
Unfortunately there is no formal "snipping tool" on XP. This method gives a way to create complex tables and put it into TSF. Yeah, the table function on ProBoards is basically useless.
BTW: I found out that Photobucket has a library of developer routines for .Net. If they are free I might try to write a program for one's computer to interface with Photobucket. That means Logging in on the application and then doing everything one wants within the application. All it would need is an Internet connection.
It would be a lot faster since I would not have all the ads, banners and whatnot, most importantly no Shockwave Flash (seems used only for Photobucket ads). Since Chrome removed Native Flash my Photobucket was ultra slow using the Chrome version. I now have the Chrome version disabled.
I don't know if that is useful or not since I have just started to use Photobucket. I might look into it.

Hi Rodney
I told you Engineer/IT people may be smart but we don't know everything. Thanks for the link.
Whatever is used to capture the screen one still has to save it somewhere, Print/Screen is capturing the screen without any other software. If one has multiple windows open, then ALT + SHIFT + PRINT/SCREEN will capture the "top", or last, window open. PRINT/SCREEN will display ALL open windows.
I will check out DuckLink.

Hi Rodney
I tried DuckLink. It does alleviate steps in my above thread. However, it is missing a SAVE AS function. It always creates a file SNAP.... on the Desktop. I would them have to rename the file, copy it and put it where I want. Also, the file extension is fixed at PNG and not JPG/JPEG. It would be a great utility if it had:
1. Select output file extension 2. Allow User to name the file 3. Allow storage to any folder
I uninstalled it as it doesn't seem much better then using Microsoft PAINT.
I did remember that if one saves the WORD document as HTML images are placed in an output Files folder.

Update: Because you want the option to name your files, this will incur 3 clicks, not 2 clicks, to do your work.

Hi Rodney Verrrrrry funny! I'll try again. Jerry B That's the spirit ! Let us know how you get on. I think you'll find "capture the rectangle area" a particularly useful tool. I often click the "capture full screen" and lop later on, especially if I get behind when there are lots of posts. If the picture you want is too large to fit on the computer screen, hit the minus "-" button on the keypad to reduce till fits on the screen, prior to capture. (the scroll can be a tad clunky)

Hi Rodney I missed the little "Options" button in the lower right of the DuckLink screen. It works like I expected and will now use it. Rather than a Polygon I would think a Circle would have been more useful. Thanks for a nice little piece of software Jerry B

Hi Update to the instructions. I have been testing the software Rodney suggested using, Ducklink ( www.ducklink.com/). Instead of the procedure I outlined above I suggest downloading and using this neat little tool ( I have ascertained that it is virus safe if downloaded from the original site). It works remarkably well and replaces all the above. Notice that options may be set (I missed that one the first go-around ) by launching DuckCapture , the actual name of DuckLink, and clicking the Advanced Options in the lower right corner. The options I selected was as follows: General: Automatically check for updates and notify me I cleared all other options on this tab, but that is my preference Output File: Ask for a name JPEG image JPEG image quality set to high Keyboard: Nothing set Notice that instead of the program always running, I chose to launch on request (I prefer bare essentials to run on Startup). To have the program "ready" I "pinned" the program to the start menu. That way it is always available as a "quick launch". For Win7 and 8 this is how to pin a program: windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/start-screen-tutorialThe one thing I thought not very useful was the Polygon window. Personally, I thing a Circle would have more use. As Mikey said to his brother about Life cereal, "Try it you'll like it". Jerry b

Jerry, You still have not conquered it.............. What shape would you like Sir? PS: I love the Polygon, it is like a pair of scissors, you can cut around images

Here using Duckcapture, I have isolated an image from a broadsheet, using the POLYGON removed the advertising etc snipped an irregular shape Added any text I may wish to add to the image. (Image of England facing Australia at Cricket) PS: I use MSWorks in Win7, I don't care for Win8. Works fine.

Like I have always said, the brilliance of code writers, is only matched by their failure for intuitive interpretation. Developers should send their work to me for appraisal There are lots of goodies, just hidden. A real challenge was to take a screen shot, I gave you. Every time I tried a "screen capture" the pop up hierarchy disappeared. I would still prefer "Snagit" capture over Duck, but Duck is free. Good software is a delight, I really like ACDSee ver3.1 with Plug ins, I would pay $100 for it, but they won't sell it to me, I have to buy the latest bloated edition. A real shame. Rock on MSWorks, suite. 35 years old and still my best.

Hi Rodney Try: ALT+SHIFT+PRINT/SCRN or CTRL+SHIFT+PRINT/SCRNI did not want the circle for DELETE but for CAPTURE. Best software ever was done by a friend. When he was ready to test he went and got the maintenance man (janitor in the US) and had him use the software. Whatever was confusing got fixed on the spot. I have always said that the software from Germany, Great Britain and Australia is usually well written. I use NCH (Oz company) for audio editing and now I use their Photopad for editing. I use Ashampoo from Germany for burning CD's and DVD's. Regardless of your remarks about techies thanks for all your help. Jerry B
