I was slowly getting backs into things after a rough couple of months when the request to sell another collection landed in my inbox. This one is in Canada [not sure of exact location yet] and consists of a $60,000 Cat value KGVI, QV and GB collection.
My question is, does anyone here have experience sending such lots from Canada to the UK or elsewhere ? What costs might be involved ? I am making enquiries myself but thought maybe one or two might have first-hand knowledge of such shippings.
Thanks in advance and happy to answer questions.

I sent plenty from Canada to the UK. Its a little slower then mail coming from the UK.
Cost will depend on size and weight, I believe that the cost will be the same using Canada Post anywhere in Canada to the UK.
A little tip, try and have the parcel franked with the $10 whale stamps these will return most of the postage costs.
I never used DHL.UPS or FedEx which might be something to look into, seeing that registered mail from CP will not cover lost of postage stamps you might want to look for an alternative then CP so you have insurance on 60k.
But I also heard stories of people arriving home with a package delivered by one of the large courier companies sitting on the door step out in the rain, not very safe.
If it was me I just use Canada Post priority mail that requires signature and sent it over in a number of packages. this will help keep weight down and might help with cost.

Just getting caught up on the board a bit ...
I know several people who, when the amounts are in this range (a problem I haven't had the opportunity to experience yet!), will only use FedEx. They said it also helps with customs, etc.
However, and this requires some consideration, FedEx specifically disallows shipment of stamps. (Or at least they used to, as of a couple of years ago.) Despite that, they still used FedEx.
If there is already insurance on the collection, the transit may well be covered by the policy. Otherwise, it is possible to get 3rd-party shipping insurance. The 2 companies I'm familiar with both insure packages originating from Canada. (U-Pic and Shipsurance)
