Hi all!
My name is Kate (or Katie or Katharine), and I've got a similar story to Jean from Saskatchewan. I collected as a teen after getting interested in my dad's collection, which was primarily Canada. I lost time and funding to continue during university, and have been back around the stamp bend twice.
I admit I'm quite enamored once again, and though my intention is not to specialize or take things very seriously. I'm presently collecting used Ireland, Denmark, Austria and Germany, mostly modern affordable issues that I can obtain in quantity via trading or on auction. I admit I am getting a lot of joy sorting through the hordes of stamps I had stored in closets. I've also got a collection of Mint Canadian EFOs and Mint Japan, just for fun in both cases.
Would love to trade to potentially add to my collection.
Glad to be here! Kate

Hi Kate, Welcome to TSF !! You'll find many here with similar interests. You have to explain how you arrived with the mix of Scandanavia, Europe, and Asia along with EFO's quite the spectrum. We love stamps here so we would love to see yours.

I get the intention of 'serious' collecting but I don't have the time to invest too deeply but I am still excited to get back into this relaxing hobby.

Hi Kate, Welcome to TSF !! You'll find many here with similar interests. You have to explain how you arrived with the mix of Scandanavia, Europe, and Asia along with EFO's quite the spectrum. We love stamps here so we would love to see yours. When I was a teenage collector I had a mentor who was a very serious collector and he introduced me to the world of varieties on stamps. From there I hunted the boxes of face value or less Canadian stamps at local shows. Alot of the EFOs are actually somewhat common so it was a lot of fun to search them out and add them to my collection at a very reasonable price. I still love that collection but I have no time to do the hunt (and no interest in paying top dollar for the highly uncommon rarities), so it's on hold for now. I had trading partners in my 20s who were based in Austria and Denmark and I came to appreciate the stamps. The Germany and Japan are actually my husband's collection but I happily trade for those to give him some little projects to work thru.

katie,I have become a bit of the flyspecker myself and at one time actively pursued many of the varieties of mid modern Canada issues.Lately I've become more interested in re-entries on older issues. That's a logical explanation how you got to where you are.Would love to see some of your EFO's.(as well as the rest)

Hi, Katie ( katie333 ), and welcome back to TSF! Five years is a bit of a hiatus for you, but glad you have decided to become active again. I decided to look up your original intro thread and revive it in case you wanted to add to your story for the current membership. Hope to be seeing you around the boards! Best Wishes, Chris (aka Beryllium Guy )

Thanks Chris for reviving my thread, hard to imagine a 5 year absence (oops). I have been active in stamps since then but visit forums occasionally for insight or to chat a bit.
My collecting interests have stayed the same just added a bit more, isn't that always the way! Glad to be back.

cjoprey I added a few things to my interests under my signature, but I realized I forgot to add Tonga. I have loved those crazy stamps from the 1960s/70s since I was younger and I've decided I might as well just collect them. I enjoy oddball stamps and even if they are a bit gimmicky, I find it interesting to see what postal administrations can do to try to keep it fresh.
