For a bit of fun and to see the different 'tastes' of our members, I am inviting you all to choose your 3 favourite Cinderellas either in your collection or that you have seen online, at a show or in a book. if they are yours then scan 'em and show 'em. If you don't own them then nab a scan or give a description...someone may be able to help. I guarantee your 3 favourites will be in the bright lights of our forum.
If you like, you can tell us all about them, about why you like them or why they are special for you. if you don't like Cinderellas then just come along for the ride. Let's see what a selection we can get. THREE CINDERELLAS PER POSTER !
A fun thread for fun aspect of philately.
There is one rule [OK maybe 3 !]:
It is my thread so what I class as a Cinderella is allowed. That means just about anything that you would not find in a basic stamp catalogue, SG Stamps of the World, Scott A-Z. You can include locals, Revenues, Essays, Proofs, Test stamps, Telegraph stamps etc No covers, ONLY the label, Stamp, Seal or sticker.
You can place all 3 in one post or they can be in separate posts. And do try to give a description or tell us a bit about why you like them.
I will put my No.1 in this post and then the other two tomorrow.
This rather scarce item is most special to me because not only do I find them most unusual but also because of the way they found their way into the public domain. The main reason though is that this item was given to me by a friend at Stampex, London 2009 as a gift for one of our rare meetings. I remember being touched, bowled over and excited all in one go whilst spitting out my coffee !!!!
For those who don't know [it has been posted at TSF before] this is a De La Rue printing of a Colour Comparison Stamp, sent out to all printers of GB stamps to compare the shades of the Matthews Colour Palette. They should not have been on the marketplace but were first spotted being sold at a Stamp market in Amsterdam given rise to the belief that they were smuggled out of Enschede of Haarlem, printers of many of the GB Machins. It is thought that only one sheet of 120 of each colour was printed. Everything was hush-hush and even eBay were told to withdraw any sales of these stamps. They complied. Later that ban was lifted but after a number went on sale in quick succession, they again went into 'exile' and are rarely seen these days. time will tell.
Londonbus1......have fun everyone.

My favorite is this 2013 stamp from Philosateleian Post, out of Florida: Jekyll Island - Philosateleian Post by Mick Taylor, on Flickr I love that local posts like this still exist, even though most are just hobbyist endeavors. Philosateleian has done a few nice ones, but the above is the first one that I received and also my favorite. The next is not in my possession, but I sure would like one.
This commemorative stamp was used on postcards sent to potential donors to the 1924 Mount Everest expedition of Captain John Noel. Some further information here: www.k2news.com/sn1.htmAnd for my third, here is another vanity post of recent vintage: Strange Stamps' "Bletting Medlars with Care" issue. Apologies for the truly awful scan of it (actually a photo). I think I mainly like the name.

I'd have to agree with Sir Rod the best seem to come in sets. My favorites ?? Probably the ones I give away, so others will have them to show. Sharing is one thing that gives me great pleasure.

Interesting choices one and all. Keep 'em coming.
My No.2.
There was a thread once on another forum entitled 'Cinderella Stamp Club', an innocent-looking thread about an envelope from the USA that contained some Cinderellas. The owner, and poster, from Croatia described some of the contents and left us all his photo albums to peruse. Some of the items he posted were labels from a Philatelic Exhibition held in London in 1923 and after a couple of pages of comments it turned out that some of the labels were very special and one, in particular, very much so as it was unlisted and never seen previously. That label is the one below. A royal Purple example of a colour that should only be in the collection of KGV....but isn't !! I purchased all the examples from this nice guy in Croatia from this Exhibition and they are treasures I will never let go of. Just by coincidence, I have just received an email from him these last days asking if I wish to purchase any others from that same CSC envelope !!
I have also just read through the thread on that other forum and it brought back such fond memories of why I collect what I do and what wonderful people Stamp collectors are. Treasures to have and keep hold of.
I could have picked any of the labels I purchased that day back in 2012, but this one had the edge due to it's current uniqueness !
Oh yes, it's also my Avatar !!

Rod: Any chance that the New Horizons spaceship spotted this guy on its flyby? Hi Ed, That's the 1 Nova value tablet, very common mint unhinged. On cover very rare, I think it's current CV is around $340 It paid the parcel rate between Pluto's moons, Charon, Styx, Nix, Kerberos, and Hydra. Not only was the service rarely used ( residents were also using the "beam me up" service ) but package papers were rarely saved.

I'm late to the party, slowly working my way through old threads I haven't read yet. I've posted all of these to various TSF threads in the past (which has the handy benefit of not requiring any further scanning ...). My favourite cinderella is probably this 1921 Danish Christmas seal depicting a smiling Greenlandic girl. Next, how about this souvenir sheet from Stampex 1963, the National Stamp Exhibition of the United Kingdom. The Annigoni portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is my favourite, and although my copy of this sheet is a bit chewed up on one corner and doesn't have the colours very well registered, it's still a nice sheet. One of my very few Cinderella items that hasn't been sent away to live elsewhere! And finally, another Christmas seal, this one showing a swimming platypus wearing a Christmas hat. Platypuses are fine things anyway, better still when wearing a hat. This was issued in 1990 in Victoria, Australia. Ryan

An awesome thread, one of my favorites so far in my short but budding TSF experience.
Stay tuned for three (or more) of my favorites......when I can find and scan them!
