What geographic area would this island be part of? According to Wikipedia, the United Nations classifies St. Helena as being in West Africa. Ryan

The King George VI St. Helena stamps were printed from 1938 until 1952 (Scott 118-127, Gibbons 131-140). The island is sparsely populated, so there were not a lot of reprints. It is possible to determine the relative time period a stamp was produced based on the paper and gum of the stamps. All of the stamps are the same relative perforation measurement, and there are only a few color changes. So you don't have a lot to work with if you are sorting the stamps by printing time period. Shown below is the last page from my collection of the St. Helena issues. The numbers shown are not listed in any catalog, so disregard them. They are Scott 124-127 and Gibbons 137-140. It includes my notes about the paper and gum differences as well as subtle perforation differences. The printings are based on the listing compiled by Potter & Shelton in 1952. You can see the entire set by using this link. KGVIStamps St. Helena - King George VI issues

Today I also received my auction wins from last month. A meager harvest as I got overbid on nearly everything. Here are the survivors, the Silver Wedding issue of 1948 from St. Helena:

Just a small correction hrdoktorx , I hope you don’t mind. For Commonwealth stamps the term “ Silver jubilee” refers to the 1935 issues for King George V 25 years as king with Windsor castle design. The stamps you show are called “Silver Wedding”

I didn't find anywhere specific to place this (if there is a place for this, Admin please relocate) On a few occasions the German States acquisition has other countries on the back side of the WW album page they were removed from. In most cases those pages have been cleared, but these were missed! not being a Commonwealth collector I know nothing about these

It has a couple of dubious claims to fame. Due to its remote nature 2000 km from nearest land mass, it was chosen by the victorious allies, Britain, Prussia, Russia, and Austria as the final exile of Napoleon Boneparte after his defeat at Waterloo, and it is where he died in 1821.
Secondly and similarly during the Anglo Boer Wars it became a prison camp for die hard Afrikanner POWS to get them as far as possible from South Africa.

Took a couple of years to find this to complete the 1934 Centenary issue. I'm learning the hard way that in acquiring British Commonwealth sets, especially George V, it is far cheaper buying complete sets at the outset rather than trying to obtain them one by one.

Very nice stamp nbstamper. A tough one to find for sure. My favorite stamp from that set is the low value 1/2d, showing Lot and his Wife. A pretty group when mounted...
My experience is similar regarding KGV material. Buy as complete a set as possible first time around. Sometimes it's tempting to buy the broken sets at a low price only later however; to realize that the missing stamps are going to cost an arm and a leg to obtain.
Specific KGV singles have always been a challenge in my experience.
