Obock Obock was the point of entrance from which French Somaliland was formed. The port was acquired by the French in 1862 but was not actively occupied until 1884. In 1888 Djibouti was made into a port and the seat of government moved there from Obock. In 1902 the name Somali Coast was adopted on the postage stamps of Djibouti and these stamps superseded the individual issues of Obock. |
