Turks and Caicos Islands 1900 2½d blue SG104 Badge of the Islands The Turks Islands were settled by Bermuda in 1678 and found too dry for the cultivation of sugar cane. Instead pans were built in which seawater was evaporated to produce salt. The importance of the salt industry to the islands is reflected in its depiction on the badge of the colony. The Caicos Islands were settled in the late eighteenth century by Loyalists from North America.

Love the design of the Turks and Caicos definitives. Here is a 6d George V that gives a pretty good account of the issue:

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

This stamp was listed as a Scott 34a (red on greenish white) on an online auction. I was missing the Sc. 34 in any of the 3 shades so I bid on it being the regular one and I guess I will not know for sure until I see it together with a red on bluish green or on emerald. When I compare it with the later George V issues it is much lighter and does not look green at all so I suspect it is the 34a.

Sc # 355> Sc # 375> Sc # 399 > Apologies here, stamps are out of order! My "sheet builder" software (Fastone Image Viewer) whilst a nifty piece of software has the irritating quirk where it will not automatically sort on prefix (cat number) This one slipped past "quality control" Advert break : All my stamps shown, are automatically "deskewed" and cropped, employing TSF member "PostmasterGS" free software "Stampfix"
