Here is an unusual one During/after the US civil war, coinage (metal scarcity) became difficult to produce and encased stamps replaced coins This one is from 1940 and was made by the Harvey Dolan Co. as advertising The stamp is a reproduction

Early on in this topic (page 1) I posted a label produced by Cinderella dealer T-Mike stamps. Mike Sartori's stock was sold at auction a while back but I knew nothing about them until it was too late !! Not sure if these were part of it but I was pleased to find these advertising labels, a couple I had never seen before. Above, a block of 10 of the original label (shown on page 1) with both Phone numbers included. Below: The next two sheets, different sized sheets and labels, were possibly produced in connection with a 'Cinderella' event in Sweden. More to look into ! Above: an Imperf block of the original label. Love these surprise finds........ Londonbus1

Was looking for something and came across this interesting item, unfortunately it has a thin spot on the back. It also has a date on the back - 1934.

Mr. H ........your label is similar in design to one produced in a set of 4 colours by the American Bank Note Co. for the 1934 National Stamp Exhibition. Also seen is a similar label with different advertising in the bottom panel. The one below is again similar and is an unadopted design for the same event. (I am inclined to believe it is by the same designer but with changes)

I am enjoying seeing examples of this Rockefeller Center design, so thanks to Mr. H and Londonbus1 for the posts! Michael, is there any chance that yours is an error of some sort, since the word "sponsored" is misspelled as "sponsered"?

Very nice items from Mr. H and Londonbus1 . Searching ebay, I found these. The first 3 are from the set of 4 for the National Stamp Exhibition of 1934, quite common and shown in Philatelic Clubs, Shows and Exhibitions: U.S.A. thread, but the 4th stamp is another version of the one shown by Mr. H but for the Observation Roofs at The Rockefeller Center. I wonder if there were others? Observation Roofs by Daniel, on Flickr

Beryllium Guy....certainly an error of spelling which, as you can see, was corrected in the chosen design. I got this item as a 'Proof' but as the design is different from the one chosen it may well have been an additional (rejected ) design. I did some checking a while back but did not come up with a positive answer. So still looking. All good fun.

A recent purchase, this relatively rare Stanley Gibbons dealer stamp. It came with this article but I can add some more information since it is mentioned in Glenn Morgan's British Stamp Exhibitions, 4th Edition available free online. It was issued by Stanley Gibbons at the 1906 International Philatelic Exhibition. So, a dealer advertising stamp and not an official exhibition Cinderella. The design was based on George Hamilton-Smith's dealer stamp whose business merged with Stanley Gibbons in 1905. It was printed by Perkins Bacon. I can see now that my Stanley Gibbons stamp post, above, directly correlates with michael 's George Hamilton Smith's stamp shown at the bottom of page 1.

Schaubek used these rather fine owls to advertise their Stamp Albums in the past. I couldn't find any connections with Owls to their company in my brief searches but they certainly make for attractive Poster Stamps. There's another Schaubek Poster stamp elsewhere... thestampforum.boards.net/thread/1317/stamp-albums-worldwide

Michael ( Londonbus1), thanks for the tag! Indeed I do notice something about those owls, as each one seems to have a Cape of Good Hope 1-Shilling Green Triangle in its beak! Until you prompted me to take a closer look, I confess that I had not noticed what is going on there.... cool!

A free gift insert to the January 1996 edition of Scott's Stamp Monthly was this sheet (6x3) of Self-Adhesive labels commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of John Walter Scott. I take it he needs no introduction !! Some inscriptions in different colours and one label shows the Scott image inverted. The label in position 8 advertises the magazine.

A souvenir sheet produced by Mystic Stamp Co for its 60rd anniversary in 1983. The stamp on the left is a fuzzy reproduction of Hungary Sc. 81, the 200 korona from a 1925 set of eight issued to raise money for athletic organizations. The stamp on the right is presumably an image of Bertha Miller of Mystic Stamps. No gum on the reverse.

A plain and somewhat frowzy 1929 stamp dealer cover I collected for the seal on the reverse advertising the availability of the current Scott precancel catalog sold by this dealer.

My club's German Study Group met this afternoon. A guest from another local club dropped in with some stamps their members had on consignment. I picked up these two strips. They appear to be from the 1937 Stamp Day overprint that Ka-Be did on sheets of the 3pf Hindenburg (Mi.Nr. 513). I remember reading that, for advertising purposes, Ka-Be privately overprinted some of the Hindenburg stamps in black and white, completely obscuring the ochre stamp (you can see a bit of the original stamp on the bottom of some of them). Essentially the blacked out stamp became a label with no postal validity. They all have a swastika watermark (hook to the left) and are MNH. Michel notes that they exist and that used examples are 'uncommon'. They add that the overprints were done in a checkerboard pattern and resulted in 20 se-tenant combinations and 8 different blocks of four. Colnect suggests a Michel catalogue number of Mi.Nr. 513+Zf. An interesting bit of Stamp Dealer Advertising ... does anyone know anything more about them?
