I want to do some research on wikipedia.ru I have changed the input language so I can type in Russian. How do I know if I am typing correctly? Do I type on the keyboard as I would do in english and it comes up correctly? How do I know if I am typing correctly? I use Windows XP with Firefox 40.0.2 web browser. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi astp007 Unfortunately to get the correct Cyrillic characters you will have to use either: Alt + some Number Windows Character Map (cumbersome but easiest method) Also type: "online Russian Keyboard" into Google. There are a pile of them. Some on-line some to download and execute. Here is one that types into a box: www.lexilogos.com/keyboard/russian.htmAfter typing you would have to do a Copy-Paste operation. If you know programing, C# or VB.NET create your own "toolbar" with the characters you need. There is no easy answer except the online keyboard method. Jerry B

I've used Google Translate to enter Cyrillic text, something that I learned on this forum once upon a time. There is a Cyrillic keyboard available if you choose Russian as the input language (the one on the left side - if it's the Ukrainian alphabet you need then there's a separate keyboard for that when you choose Ukrainian as the input language). Click on the drop down menu next to the microphone and the second choice is for a keyboard. You can just use the mouse to click on the letters you want. It defaults to lower case for me. I don't think there's an italic alphabet available, too bad since it's quite different for some letters. Ryan

I did that with your post above and below was the output (I don't speak or read Russian so I can't comment on the accuracy of Google's translation):
