Another new arrival is the re-issue, in 1987 and on chalky paper, on the 1985 air mail design from France, showing a CAMS 53 seaplane. With the selvedge on this one showing the printing date, the ID is easy.  |

100 years first powered flight in Germany. Performed by Hans Grade (1879-1946).He made a distance of 100 m and reached an altitude of 8 m. The flight ended with a crash-landing. It is amazing to look at the rapid progress at the time: Less than two years later,Grade performed a duration-flight of 4 h 30 min. ! Stamp issued Oct.9th,2008.

Interflug was the air-traffic and air-control company of the DDR. Originally the air-line was named Deutsche Lufthansa. But as the like-named air-line of West-Germany held the copy-rights for the name,the GDR had to give in,after prolonged court-battles and renamed her Lufthansa in 1963 to Interflug. After the re-unification of Germany,Interflug was liquidated and all employes were transfered to Lufthansa.

I made an interesting find a couple of years ago whilst going through some kiloware. I came across a postal label commemorating Georges Guynemer, a celebrated first WW fighter pilot and aviator for France, the details of which can be found on this colnect site > colnect.com/en/stamps/stamp/443515-Guynemer-Guynemer-France Here is the label that I came across, unfortunately my copy has seen better days :-  I am sure that other members will have a more pristine version !
