1875 Hamburg American Packet Company These stamps were used by the Hamburg American Packet Company (HAPAG) to be used on letters delivered by this company to the Caribbean and South America. The colour is black, yellow and blue, the center is embossed with the company arms (anchor), perforation should be 12.5. HAPAG service started in 1870. One design was issued in 1875; in 1879 a new printing was issued in slightly different colors. They were used until 1881. There were four reprints officially issued by the company: 1897, 1938 (for an exhibition of the 'Deutsche Sammler Gemeinschaft') on white paper with thicker letters and sharper embossing. The word 'Nachdruck' (reprint in German) is printed in the bottom right corner. In 1955, and 1975 (All four stamps in the sheet have '1975' in small letters written at the bottom) two more reprints were made. The reprints are all perforated differently than the original stamps and have various differences in appearance, design, and paper. I have not come across any individual forgeries of these stamps. Main Ship of HAPAG Left, original 1875, right, 1879 second printing 1938 Reprint Full sheet of 1938 with Nadruck (reprint) 1955 Reprint 1975 Sheet of four. Note the "1975" in small letters at the bottom A poster from HAPAG

Great stuff, and nice images. I have a couple that I posted somewhere else a while back...I should dig those out.
