My name is Gerard , I'm from a very small town north of Montreal, so French Canadian is my language. I am a worldwide collector, but I focus more on Canada and US mint stamps. I started at age of 12 , but I get a real bump when my Grand Father give me his collection that was actually started by is uncle. So I have 120 years old stamps that was actually purchase by my family in a post office. For now I try to find a the best way to organize my world collection, they are in Scott Int. albums with a lot of custom made pages add to them.

Welcome Gerard! How incredibly cool it is that you have 120 year old stamps purchased by family members. It's wonderful that you are continuing their collection.l

Always good to have another worldwide collector on board, especially one who uses the Scott International albums. Welcome. I use Lighthouse albums with added customs pages for Canada and US and other Scott and Minkus for some countries, but those Scott International albums make me crazy since 40 years. They are my preferred, the look of the pages, the binders, but the binders are so poor quality, they destroy in no time.

Welcome Gerard- you are quite familiar as you post on another forum, and I know you have a lot to offer. As you may or may not know, my classical era WW collection (1840-1940, - 1952 British Commonwealth) is housed in 6500 Steiner pages. I have a soft spot, though, for Big Blue (Scott International Part I 1940-1940), and maintain a virtual collection (by way of keeping track with a BB checklist). I don't have the time or interest to alter album pages as you do- but enjoy seeing your presentations.

Thanks JK . I'm still in process on how I'm gone proceed, but as for now 5h49 pm , I think I'm gone go with Steiner pages that I will mod to include more info and drawing to help for identification and remove the stamps I know I will never get. But before transfer the stamps from my Scott it , I will take a scan of the page and just add with Photoshop a missing stamp on it later when available. So it will look that a kind of virtual representation of what will look my Scott if I have the stamps in them.

For now I try to find a the best way to organize my world collection, they are in Scott Int. albums with a lot of custom made pages add to them. This is exactly what I do, too. And I think it will pay off if you ever decide to sell your collection (not that you ever would). Bidders do like to buy full pages from Scott albums.

I've finally come to terms with this. I usually have a few used binders around from purchasing old Scott collections and as my current binders fall apart, I transfer my pages to these. Even though it hurts their appearance, I reinforce the binders with library book tape to try to squeeze as much life as possible out of them. Once I get within a couple of thousand stamps of completing my Volume One, I may buy a new set of binders, but until then, I'm treating the binders as expendable.
(A year or so ago I finally started using slipcases and I will be interested to see if that makes the binders last longer. I also believe that the regular binders will last longer than the jumbo, but I don't want to give up the convenience of housing my Volume One in two binders rather than three. If only Scott would release its new metal hinged binders in International format.)

Are there other albums that fall apart like Scott albums? I have Harris international and some Mystic albums, but I make my own pages as well. No problems yet, but I've only been stamping for a few years.
