Hello everyone,
and thank you for inviting me to join this forum.
My name is Paul, and I am 56 years old, and live in outback New South Wales.
I'm a somewhat isolated collector, and don't know any other stamp collectors,
except for a couple of the local children, who took it up after seeing how I collect.
Have collected stamps since I was eight,
but my current collection was started in 1999.
I collect the whole world 1840 to 1940, or thereabouts
(some countries have a natural cut off point near 1940,
such as British Commonwealth to end of KGV era - so to 1936,
and Germany to end of third Reich - so to 1945, etc.)
The collection now consists of 20 folders of Hagner sheets,
with over 20,000 stamps (at last count).
Nearly complete are my Australia and States, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany and States, Great Britain, Italian States, Spain, Switzerland, and United States.
I am currently working on acquiring British Commonwealth colonies.
Already virtually completed Mauritius, Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Bechuanaland, Basutoland, Bermuda, and Gibraltar.
Most all of my stamps are bought on eBay.
I find I can get what I want at the price I want, with patience.
And do sell my duplicates there too.
I've already been enjoying the offerings posted here,
and look forward to meeting and sharing with you all.
And, just to make my post a bit interesting (and to train me on how to insert a picture),
here is a photo of my latest acquisition, which I'm pretty excited about.
Paid 160 GB pounds, which worked out to be 300 AU dollars, by the time the postage and registration was added on.
(Still waiting for them to arrive.)
If anyone can tell me anything about them, it would be greatly appreciated.
Wishing you all philatelic happiness.
`Paul
