What I collect: Militaria from various periods. Like USMC

Well based upon the response to my question I am going to post this topic for the Forum here and hope that those enjoy it and provide any feedback. The following is a 1950's era Stamp Album that I came across and acquired not to long as the price was right; FREE!
Again I am a sub-novice to stamps and the related ephemera. The conditions obviously vary and I am open to feedback as to grades and any values. To me, just finding the album is part of its value.
BEWARE: I took about 145 shots that are in order from A-Z. Please be patient as I load them. I think I will try to do 14 per page so it should max out at 10-12 pages

MDS, Do you plan on expanding /working on filling that book ? I'm sure we can all help in that if that would be something you'd like to pursue.

firstfrog201, I do like to broaden my knowledge of other collectibles but I'm not a stamp collector so I wont be looking to add to this album. I do like and seek out Letters/Covers addressed by/to USMC.

Given the cover of that album, I'd have guessed that it was from the 1920s. However, there are pictures of Nazi-era stamps in it, so it's probably from the '30s. Some of the stamps may be later, but they appear to be mounted on empty spaces. At any rate, it looks much older than the 1950s. A kid's album, I'd guess. It's an interesting find. Congratulations.

MDS, thanks for posting all the pictures of your album find. It looks to be in pretty good condition with just a few stamps with toning and foxing. Your post reminded me that I had one of these old Modern Postage Stamp Albums laying around. Can't remember where it came from, maybe in an auction lot. Mine is in a lot worse shape than yours. I'll post the cover and one page for comparison. This one is the 1925 edition from Scott Stamp & Coin Co.

Hi Rod, Thanks for pointing that out. I'll post my old album info over there as well. Hi Jen, you can "link" it, rather than do another scan, takes a few seconds Use the cogwheel just right of the "thumbs up " top right of screen.

Rod, your Ol' Albums thread is very interesting. Opens up yet another area of philatelic ephemera collecting . THANKS ALOT!!!

Opens up yet another area of philatelic ephemera collecting . THANKS ALOT!!! When I put my Web site up, I got a message from a guy in New Zealand. He collected aircraft on stamps. Most of his collection was modern, and he was impressed by my biplanes and Zeppelins. Anyway, he mentioned that U.S. Scott C11, which features the small monoplane buzzing a radio beacon, originally was a biplane. He said the stamp designer changed it to a monoplane to make it "modern." Apparently, that was an issue for our forefathers. That was in 1928. That cover on MDS' album would look just right with King Kong and Fay Wray hanging off a building. Given the apparent view of modernity back in the day, I'm surprised the cover still used a biplane in 1940. Why, they had giant DC3s by then!

Hi
The very first stamp album that my aunt bought me was "Modern Postage Stamp Album". MY second was a loose leaf Minkus World-Wide. Then blank pages ever since.
Later Edit: Since publication dates have been discussed, my album was a brand new album purchased at the Gimbel's Minkus counter in the middle to late 1940's. Since WW II was still waging it is possible for German stamps to be in the album.
